My Pedalboard pics. Posted at last.

So, It's been a good 2 months since Matt and I have redone our pedalboards with the PT Pedaltrain series. He posted his right away:

And of course, it takes me forever to post mine!  Well, here it is!!!!!

Here's the layout. I finally decided to go "hard wired", and ditch the George L's. Soldered everything up today with Neutrik Right Angle Jacks, the new series ones, and Canare GS6 cable. It's practically bulletproof now.

Pedals, in order are: Axcess BS2 buffer > Korg Pitchblack Tuner > Crybaby Classic Wah > MaxxPlay rehoused EVH Phase 90 > MaxxPlay rehoused 1982 boss CE2 chorus > Mod50 > Boss DD20 Gigadelay (in parallell loop).

The good part about this setup, is that if I ever want to do a gig with my Randall RM20, all I have to do is remove the Mod50 footswitch, place a few overdrive pedals in it's place, and run a patch cable from the CE2 into the ODs, then plug in the existing Neutrik Right Angle to the last OD pedal (which goes out to the amp input).

I copied Matt's "snake" system, which so far, is working incredible well. Instead of bringing 4 cables to the gig, and worrying about them getting tangled, I have all 4 cables semi-permanently attached to the pedalboard. A Black Canare Guitar-to-amp cable, a blue "send" cable, a red "return" cable, and a smaller black MIDI cable. All kept together with velcro ties.

I used to have my guitar/FX loop/footswitch cables in a snake before, but I'd have to plug them into a 4 x 1/4" jack patch bay. With this system, it's one less step. It's pretty much reduced setup time to under 5 minutes. And when the gig is done, just coil the cable nicely, and place on top of the board, and zip up the gigbag.

On the bottom of the board, I used some adhesive-mounted cable-tie mounting squares, and some zip ties. Keep everything super neat and tight underneath.

All in all, it's a really simple pedalboard setup, but it's perfect for me. Put together with 110% neurotic precision, which is just my style. :D

:rawk:

I'm not one for pedal boards, but that just me! Have everything nice and rack-mounted and just set a midi controller infront of my monitor. Hard for me to chew bubblegum and walk at the same time.

Szar, my pedalboard setup is ridiculously easy to get around. I think you'd manage.

Channel change. Phaser. Chorus. Delay. Tap tempo. Wah. Boom. Done.

After all, being the frontman, I can go thru entire gigs and not even step on anything besides the footswitch. My entire pedalboard is almost overkill for my current situation.

I do like having the board being done though. It's been a long time in the works, but I feel like after all my pedal buying and selling, I've really narrowed it down to MY bare essentials. I've had tremolos and auto wahs and boosters and whatnot, but I just don't need or use them. I can get pretty much any sound that I'd ever need with this board.

What is the guitar in his avatar? I'm guessing it is not anything listed in his signature. Nice looking axe, though!

:inlove:

Len,

It's a Warmoth that I recently built. Black Korina Soloist body, with a custom cut washburn-style Nuno headstock. (I traced it directly off of Matt's N4). It's my home-made Nuno N4 ripoff.

I know you have to assemble the, but does Warmoth offer like kits of pre-chosen things- Necks, bodies, etcc? Thinking of getting a Les=Paulish sort of thing...

They don't offer kits...

But I'd love to help you spec one out, or even assemble it for you!

Cool Nick! I like it! I like the simplicity. It's really all about playing. :) Are those Maxxplay re-housings much bigger than the originals?

I'll have photos of my "board 1" very soon. Maybe a week. I'm waiting for cable, and then I'll do a second attempt at soldering those switchcraft 228's. I like those Neutrik plugs you are using. But, I need the extra space allowed with the 228's.

Yeah, the Neutrik plugs are definitely not space-savers in the least. But they are hands down the most heavy duty plugs that I've come across. I've gotten assembly for them down to a science.

I wish I could say the same thing about the Switchcraft 228s. I gotta say, there is so much room for improvement with those 228s. There's actually room to make them smaller, easier to solder and even more durable.
