NAD. 1973 JMP Video

72 is a nice year still before they went over to PCB
I never owned a Supertrem, only ever played one once but it was modded for the SIR mods and even then it wasn't working properly.

I currently have 2 Gowers 1 KK++ and a one off Aldrich type mod and the one thing I wonder about is whether playing with a lot of gain will have made me a lazy player, Also in the UK I would be typically pretty much be buying blindly without trying so it's a massive punt to take.
Right now I'm torn between going for another Jose type mod , I fancy the 3 in 1 Jose mod done by Dan or a older marshall. Definitely can't afford both
Since you're in the UK, I'd imagine your ability to buy an old Marshall for a better price than over here, is an advantage. I used to look at UK sites and they were sometimes half the price.

I bought my 72 Supertremolo back in 2020 just to have; I'd always wanted a Plexi/Metal panel Superlead to try but I figured it was probably not going to get played a bunch since they are so unruly. Man I was wrong. This amp sounds so good, straight in or boosted, that it chased away a nice 83 2203, Wizard MC100, even a rare C+ Coliseum. Those amps just sat and collected dust after I started boosting the 72.
Now, I run a Distortion pedal in front, and the vol knob on the pedal acts like a Master Vol..easy to play at any volume.
I feel everyone who likes a good Marshall in any form, should try one of these at some point in their gear journey.
This 100%.
Per Tom’s advice I just scored a stock 72 SL, and I’m hitting it with a Griff Tone Ripper Distortion (sick pedal, smokes the BE) and it destroys worlds.
Sounds like a SL with a killer high gain mod.
Got Treble Volume around 1 (not 1 o’clock), bass volume at 4, and using level on the pedal to control volume.
I trust Tom’s advice 100%, especially for all things Marshall, but I still had to hear this to believe it.
Well, I’m a believer, it’s really that good,
I reluctantly sold my MTL100 to make this happen and I’ve got no regerts whatsoever.
