Well, I'm back in the Bogner camp again. Had an Uber before, but like this one much better...

Nice score man.

I only owned one Bogner (Twin jet) but always wanted to check out the Rev 2.
Never had funds when one came up.

It's funny, I had completely forgotten that I had an Uber a LONG time ago I got here on the forum, and we're taking years ago. So many ago I forgot I had it...  First world problems, right? I think it was the original (pre-Rev 2), thought it was OK.

I recently tried a Rev 2 again, and wasn't impressed at all. It was flubby, a little loose, too bass heavy, etc. Just wasn't my vibe at all, sold it off, guy loved it. Well, I recently started tracking down another for a buddy of mine who wanted to try a Rev 2, and had another pop in my lap (this one) along with it. It had a metal grill (none of the others did), so as we gear whores do, said to myself "Hey, why not give it a try too!"

Well, I'm glad I did. This one sounds fantastic. It's tight, focused, brighter, etc. It's night and day with the other one. Definitely keeping it...

Damn you got two of them! I have been on the lookout for a Rev2 also with no luck

There's one on Reverb right now, but it's overpriced. Maybe he'll come down on it some if it sits there a while longer.

Yeah saw that one, made an offer but no dice. Congrats on the amp so awesome!!

Interesting that yours is different sounding. What is the difference? Could it be as simple as the tubes?

Could be. The other had TAD EL34's in it, which were OK. This one has Winged C's, which is one of my more favored tubes. I'm also a believer that no 2 amps sound exactly the same. I've felt the same way about tons of other amps I've had - some were great, others of the same make and model were only OK.

Yeah, I have heard Bogner tinkered around here and there so 2 of the amps sounding different is not out of the question at all.

I am getting ready to have mine modded to accept KT88's. The Rev 2 I first played had them and that was the amp that made me say I MUST have a Rev 2. I got one 3 years later but mine still has the stock ARS tubes from 2002

I thought about throwing some better/newer EL34's in but I really need to get this mod done and money has been tight so KT88's first.

This is one thing that always comes to mind when I hear somebody say they bought a used amp and it sounded like crap. Tubes are 95% of the problem when that happens.

Glad you like it, the Rev2 is bad ass.

I've never tried TAD EL34's but the TAD 6L6GC-STR's have a lot more bass then most power tubes, i love them for some amps. But as a Rev 2 owner, i know this amp has tons of low-end and it could probably be overkill in the bass spectrum.

I also believe that no amp sound the same, especially the Rev 2's. They where Reinhold's experiment, some have different mods in V1 some don't. Mine is serial # 335 and i freaking love it but i have to put the gain knob at max to sound the best, which is very unusual . The sweet spot is usually around 1 to 2 o'clock for the gain on ubercshall's. It doesn't look modded inside an i did some research out of curiosity, nobody knows of any mods done to it. Anyway as long as it sounds good!

Congrats!

We're close! This one is serial #337 I believe. That's odd about the gain. I've been running the gain around 1:00 and it seems like it's plenty for heavy riffing. I really enjoy the Winged C's in it, though I'm a Winged C fan. I think it has high gain Ruby pre's in it - which I'm not usually a fan of - but they seem to work well in this amp.

So, this sort of happened...

A 2002 and a 2003 Rev 2. Question now is do I keep both, or sell one? Decisions...

I think you should swap my cloth grill for a metal grill. Otherwise, rock on!! :D

damn, which sounds best? Match the tubes and keep the one that sounds better.

Honestly, they both sound fantastic. One has what I believe to be the stock tubes in it (surprisingly enough), the other Winged C's. They're very similar sounding to me. One of the two is - if memory serves me right - the one from all of James Lugo's old videos.
