NAD: Einstein Combo

All you need is 2 Marshall style foot switches. The difference in the powered ones is 1-button mode switching is possible. Mine works either way. I used Olaf's tutorial. It still powers a passive foot switch. Try plugging a 2 button foot switch into the mode switcher.

Got my new tubes in! Sounds much better. :)

The tubes that were in there were crap. The base of the power tubes looked like they were burnt. The V7 reverb tube was a 12AX7 instead of an AT7. And the rest were a mix of JJ and old Sovtek. Replaced 'em all with:

V1: Ruby 12AX7AC7 HG+
V2: Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+
V3-V6: AC5 HG
V7: Penta 12AT7

Might try switching around V1 and V2. Not sure how the AC7 and AC5 differ.

But Einstein is like a slightly looser, more vintage-feeling VH4.

Congrats! Retube that sucker and you'll be all smiles. I have a 100 watter and it's the quitest amp I've ever played. All my buddies that play it are blown away at the lack of ground hum even at high gain levels. Try it on your 4x12 cab when you can too

Would love to. But the reason I bought the Einstein Combo was because my full-size rig is in storage. Moved to San Francisco recently and can no longer crank my stack. Living in an apartment now... :( My VH4, CCV, and 4x12 are on the other side of the country.

I'm in San Francisco too. Hagen on a Bogner 412 in the living room. My wife is pretty peeved.

Congrats on the new amp.

Swapped a few tubes around and it's sounding awesome!

V1: AC5 HG+
V2: AC5 HG
V3: AC7 HG+ (7025W)

And I have a Scumback Blackback BM75 on the way to A/B against the V30.
