Awesome! That is actually one of the bridge humbuckers that was recommended for my maple neck-thru, poplar body 80's Charvel Model 5FX!

Those online shootouts are why I gave it three chances. 6L6 50w twice and then the Stealth. I had those in the same room with numerous amps including some that get a bad rap. Even the DSL50, original Carvin Legacy, and a modded Peavey XXX were preferred by more than one player.

I'd take a XXX over any of the EVH's.

Heck yeah. I had a stock XXX 2x12 combo back in the day that I swapped in a Vintage 30 and an Eminence Legend V12. I’ve moved away from that sound, but it was perfect for 80’s era metal and thrash. Never understood why it got bashed so much. Maybe the aesthetics or the unfamiliar active EQ.

The one I compared in the room to the EVH was a head modded by a local tech. Don’t have the details but it kicked ass too. We ran about 10 or so amps through a Carvin slant 4x12 that day. The XXX was the favorite.
