The Herbie definitely is at home with the front loaded GK100 cab. It also sounds awesome through a Bogner Ubercab which is a 4x12 with 2-V30's and 2-G12T75's in an X pattern.

I too have played just about every cab that you can think of paired with Herbert since late 2003 to present.

I’ve played Herbert through Bogner 4x12, 2x12 V30 loaded, and an Uber cab. The Mesa 4x12 & Orange was passable but not anywhere near up-to-par with the Diezel 4x12R loaded with 2xV30 & 2x Diezel Custom Eminence – It’s a perfect balance, IMO; ripping high-gain solos, CH2 is simply a work of art, off the chart dynamics, beautiful rich natural clean (G12T & G12K can’t compete here) very punchy and well suited for Herbie.

I played Celestion G12T-75s for years before I realized how stiff, lifeless and sterile they sounded to an authentic V30. I describe the G12T & G12K as listening to someone recite a story to you in monotone, like a single unvaried tone. Just no dynamic color or richness in comparison, other than the fact that the G12K-100 is basically the same speaker tone wise as the G12T-75 with a bit more output, 25W more.

With all the hours upon hours that I have personally gone through testing many various cabs with Herbert, I always came back to the Diezel 4x12R in a X pattern of V30s & DCE.

King...

Your Words are True... I would add that the K100 also has a bit more bottom. The V30's in the right cab have the mojo

I like them in an X-Pattern with LEAD 80's which are very rich, and have a lot of bottom and punch.... They make a great match... This is what I have loaded in my MILLS Afterburner...

Best,

I may have to order up a couple of those CL80's and see what they are all about.

I had a Bogner Ubercab and a Diezel 412R at one point. They were my favorite cabs.....until I got to try a Mills Acoustics Afterburner with my amps side by side with those cabs. The end result was that I now own 2 Mills cabs and no Bogner/Diezel cabs. ;) I like the v30/GK100 speaker pattern the best.

I have been thinking of selling one of my Mills cabs though - just because I really want to try the new FL German made Diezel cab with my Herbert and the only way that's gonna happen is if I buy one.

Sorry, it’s my custom description... :) DCE = Diezel Custom Eminence.

I was thinking about being more descriptive and going with PDCE=Peter Diezel Custom Eminence, that would most likely be too long for most.

I'll have to cop up and confess, I never did try the CL 80s with Herbert! :( Only with other amps, but you just got me back to the white board. We'll see...

Glad you're digging the amp. I was happy to make the trade. You'll definitely be able to put the Herbert to better use than I could have.

Everyone else...take good care of Kit. I told him this forum was the biggest surprise for me when I got the Herbert. I wish there was a community this deep for other brands.
