The pull boost is a very powerful tool on HR . Not exactly what you want but it’s there tooSo, there’s no master on the rhythm channel, I guess that means there is no black cat mod on the rhythm channel.
Is the rhythm channel on the HR back to the 1990’s era useless clean channel?
Now, Obviously, nobody buys a Wizard for the cleaner tones but that black cat mod was a great feature with its separate gain and volume controls. Made the amplifier somewhat versatile.
I guess with this HR though, you can now footswitch more gainstages into the signal path?
Nice to see that Wizard now has a more aggressive ‘Marshallesque’ kerrrrang type thing going on
The one thing that was frustrating for me with the 4 MTL’s I owned was that ‘hollow’ midrange. Guess I should’ve just tried a high end eq in the loop. Maybe that’s the answer
Loved everything else on the MTL’s though.
Glad you guys are enjoying the new beast!
I think a lot of times, amp makers dont care and dont understand why we care. Mostly with old amp makers going for rock sound. Theor amps would be noisy, but ok. If you add a boost, they noisefloor was insane and damn near unusuable for metal.Sometimes that is the case. Sometimes not. I used to have a Mako CHW that had approximately SLO 100 levels of gain. That amp was a hiss factory with the gain up and bright switches on. A/B'd with even higher gain amps such as a C+/C++ was shocking in that the Mesas were considerably quieter (from a noise perspective). I've also played a Steavens Poundcake MKII with roughly the same gain potential that was even noisier than my Mako. It's really not just the overall gain quantity that renders amps noisy or not. There's a whole art to 'cleaning up the circuit' involving grounding, component location, layout, etc that some amp makers get and others do not.
Reminds me of those commercials for high gain amps that used to air during Saturday morning cartoons, “Noise gate and D cell batteries sold separately!”I think a lot of times, amp makers dont care and dont understand why we care. I would become friends with the volume knob on my guitar real fast.
i think a lot of guys now just make a great sounding amp and throw in a series effects loop and you are pretty much golden with a zuul in there
Dude you will love this amplistened to the clip / it sounds massive
You need one! It’s sorta like the Hell Razor is a a Wizard on steroids and the MTL and MC are the natty versions LOLlistened to the clip / it sounds massive
I feel lucky as fuck I can be in a position to have any Wizard .You need one! It’s sorta like the Hell Razor is a a Wizard on steroids and the MTL and MC are the natty versions LOL
Remember to send clips . A song you play classical is a song playing to know name of bad . You played it great and I don’t think I’ve heard it before or sinceYou need one! It’s sorta like the Hell Razor is a a Wizard on steroids and the MTL and MC are the natty versions LOL
I rarely drink beer lol. I meant natty with respect to working outNatty has a bad rap. It’s just bush light in a different can. I remember in the 80s when natty light came in long necks, and was the most ordered beer on UNC chapel hill campus. It was the beer! Why would such a shitty beer come in long necks? I still drink it and I play a wizard. . Having said that. I drank The champagne of beers last night. Love ‘em all.
Perfect analogy- I could get to the sounds I wanted eventually with the mcii but this gets there effortlessly and also gets even better soundsYou need one! It’s sorta like the Hell Razor is a a Wizard on steroids and the MTL and MC are the natty versions LOL
Yeah it’s sort of like what many try to get an MC or MTL to do boosted, but this in many ways does it better without any pedal involvedPerfect analogy- I could get to the sounds I wanted eventually with the mcii but this gets there effortlessly and also gets even better sounds
