My silver no horse Klon Centaur is for sure my favorite with it. Also with my Coppersound Broadway it gives me one of the best raunchy blues-rock type tones I've had, sorta a ZZ Top-ish vibe. I don't consider mine actually to be smooth or refined really (that's why I like it). It's imo the amp that the Bogners or Friedman's should've been, which I consider to be more smooth and polished. Also, its low input is one of the best fuzz pedal platforms I've had (I'm super picky about that) even though the cleans themselves are not really much to right home about
The "unrefined" quality is something that seperates Friedman and Bogner from Naylor wizard Larry Steavens and the original Marshalls they're based on. A BE or Bogner is almost like a recorded amp sound, whereas the rest are more like the wildness of an OG Marshall.

What I mean is the Naylor is the *most smooth and refined of those four.*

Ah ok I see what you mean. Haven't tried a Larry or Steavens yet, but yes it is I think more refined than my Wizard. Yes exactly those amps sound recorded aka inorganic/processed/sterile/etc like most others made today

100% agree.

That's why I say they're the "cardinal directions" - because they each take the OG Marshall thing in a different direction. Without going completely anodyne like the modern amps.

True, the Naylor is the only darker take on a Marshall that I seemed to like other than my actual '67 Tremolo 50 that is pretty dark sounding (my #1 amp) and wizard to me being kinda like a Marshall/Hiwatt hybrid. Maybe Fortin should've also copied Naylor and Wizard while he was at it and again make them very limited edition lol. Good ideas for them if they're reading this

Yes, wizard has the huge dynamic range of hiwatt, Naylor is darker and smoother and more subdued but full of kerrang, Steavens is fatter and more "brown", and Larry is the tightest and has the harmonic overload of a cranked Trainwreck

They're like the four horsemen of the modded Marshall-pocalypse

The final bosses of different "directions" you can take that style of amp without becoming a sterile sounding Redbox out like the modern stuff

Naylor being darker and smoother, but still has a 'grittiness' to it, which goes against the 'smooth' analogy. Very unique. Probably the most addictive feel of any amp not named C+. An amp that can be smooth yet raw at the same time. Gonna have to go there again at some point.

Absolutely agree. If my income was far greater, I would already have at least one of them. Lovely, singing leads from Naylors, too.

This is an amp I always tell myself I need to have. Congrats! Wouldn't mind hearing some clips. The world could always use more Naylor clips!

Thanks Dan! I’m really looking forward to this one. I’ve heard some great clips, and I’ve been told they’re like a thicker, darker, chewier JMP, and they LOVE a nice boost. And that’s some amazing company you’re grouping them with! I’m stoked, man. :D

Congrats!
That is a killer amp you're getting. One of my favs.

Thank you ape and LPM! All I’ve heard is praise of the highest regard for these amps, I’m pretty stoked.
