Check your power tubes, replace the fuse, try again.

OK, It was on the 1-6 pair, strange they are pretty new too I have some spare Ruby EL34's so I will try them.

So im reading that I need a 5x20mm 500ma slow blow fuse to replace the 3 fuses associated with the tubes correct.

Can you get them at Radio Shack?

So this is unrelated to the Cap change? If so then I must have done it correctly hehe.

Thanks for everyone’s help here! I was able to replace the bad cap and also replaced one of the fuses without any problems. So far. I re-biased the power tubes and switched around some of the preamp tubes. Channel one was all cloudy and making a lot of static noise and it seems to have been one of the preamp tubes probably V1.

Right now it seems to be sounding great. I still here some hum on the channels but I think that’s to be expected. I’m not sure you can really get rid of all of the hum?

So in short…I think it’s working like it was when I bought it..

Again, thanks and I’m sure you will see me asking more questions in the future hehe

Are your power tubes matched?

Yes, all 6 are wing =c= EL34's all matched pairs. I was thinking about putting in some kt88's but im not sure. So fare I think things are looking good. Thank you for your help.

I just added some KT88's so im using a pair of KT88's and the rest EL34's. To me it seems like the 88's added some balls to the sound. On channel 3 it sounds huge! At least to my ears it just sounds bigger. I'm using it through a bogner uberkab too sounds sweet, I think all my issues have been solved and it sounds huge now. Thanks again for all your help.

Is it important to get 6 matched tubes or you can get let's say.. 3 pair of 2 matched tubes? Or 2 pair of 3 matched tubes.
Thanks

Since the Herbert is paiwise biasable you just need 3 matched pairs.

And if you chose ho get 6 same tubes?better to get a matched sextet right?

Doesn't matter. You can fine tune the bias of each pair to be the same. I would go for the cheapest solution.

I had a sextet of SED EL34's. I added a matched pair of Kt88's, so now I have 4 matched EL34's and one matched of KT88's...

Sounds huge haha

Thanx everyone.
I've always liked to try kt88
I guess at the tube change I'll get 2 of them to mix with 4 new el34 suggested by Peter
