Need help with my Bogner Ecstasy Pandora

I need your help please. Even though I have extensive knowledge of complex amps (and had a different Ecstasy model for many years), I can‘t seem to make the Pandora work for me. It‘s so easy to make it sound bad. And I feel my ears get tired relatively soon with this amp when dialing it in, so most of the time, it sounds bad the next morning even though I thought I finally got it.

I guess I‘d like a few examples of settings you guys use. I‘m using it with a straight Bogner 4x12 with V30s. I play all kinds of stuff so all settings you dig are fine.

Thanks!

Not many of those amps out there since they are custom order. What type of music are you playing. The Pandora is supposed to be any variant of XTC via switching.

Maybe @espquade can help. He had one at one point. I've heard the same thing from multiple people about the Pandora XTC. I don't think Reinhold tuned it very well.

Do you have the little "manual" that came with it? I remember needing to use that when I had mine. That amp is full of features and it can be very frustrating at times to settle on certain ones. I'm not sure what you're going for tone wise but the Blue channel was amazing and the easiest to get what I wanted out of it. Red channel was killer too but you kinda have to get to a point where you like a tone and just not fuck with it anymore.

I had a Pandora until a year ago. What type of tones do you typically go for? Something to know about xtcs is that the treble pot is not linear, so many people like treble cranked up really high. Other than that, I didn’t find mind especially hard to dial in. The presence and resonance switches- one is labeled shizo and the other I don’t remember- were pretty powerful, and the two switches on the back added the ability to add in a ton of gain. Don’t remember any weird interactions between knobs or anything. Have you played an xtc before? Is it possible you just don’t like the xtc sound

Found the pdf I was sent with it- funny how they only spelled schizo right on the manual. Side note- if you end up wanting to sell it I might be interested lol

i’d suggest you revert all settings to 101b, dial it in and then change one thing at a time.
i wouldnt worry about balancing the blue and red yet; just get the blue channel right first since that’s where typically the tonez are and work from there.

if you can’t get the 101b blue to sound nice then you might not like the amp in general.

Hey everybody, thanks so much for taking the time to post! I really like the Bogner tone and played an Ecstasy for many years so I think the amp is not the problem. I also really like(d) the blue channels of the other Ecstasy models so the Uber Ultra was no option for me.

I like metal tones so maybe we´ll start with the red channel. How would I setup this channel to sound like an original Uberschall (never had one of those, but guess that´d be a good starting point)?

Or maybe there´s other settings for the red channel that you really like?

I have an Ultra and a Pandora and a JB45 and Goldfinger Superlead. All really good. The Pandora can not sound like an Uber Ultra no matter what but it can get heavier and more aggressive than any other Ecstasy. I can send you a few settings to try if after a certain sound. Send me your email to steve@tonedogs.com. What cab and speakers do you use?

I will mess with it tomorrow and share my findings. The Uber Ultra is a different beast though and there is no way to get the Pandora to mimic the Ultra. All four of my Bogners do things specific to them and all appeal to my tastes.

Oh man, I’ve got a 101b, Uber and a GF SL. How do you like that JB 45? I’d love to side by side it with the GF SL. I believe I may like the JB45 more…

This is my second go around with the SL. I am loving it. The JB45 is cool too but the SL has more options . Both great.

email sent, thanks 😀
I use it with a Bogner 4x12 with V30s. Aggressive tones would help me with the red channel for sure, but I´d appreciate if you have other great settings as well.
