need midi help, rocktron midi mate & xpression

I want to set up midi mate to control rocktron xpression.....plz explain , both have to be set on same channel right? then i want to set up presets switch one control preset 56 in expression, preset 2 control preset 88 in xpression... etc..thx

is the xpression the only midi device in the midi chain? if it is, it can be set to the same channel as the MM or in omni. save your expression presets into a user bank, 1, 2, 3, etc. bank 1, preset one should hit preset 1 on the xpression. if there is more than one device for the MM to control, the channels will need to be matched, so it knows who it is talking to. set the xpression to start at 1-128, not 0-127.

note - don't have an xpression, but most boxes will work the same way with user presets.

so far yes just the midi mate n expression fx unit, but he wants to add an rjm mini gizmo to contol the head after. So like then the expression gets one ch and the gizmo gets another? ie ch1 gizmo, ch2 expression and midi mate is set at what ?

It's been a long tim but I had my MM setup like this. I believe you need to set the MM in Controller Access Mode then setup the lower half of the board to midi ch 1 for the gizmo and the upper half to midi ch 2 for the Xpression via Midi Channel Editting. I emailed Rocktron and their tech sent me exact instructions on how to get it done. The wording in the manual was not very specific on how to do this. (Page 19 for reference)

im trying to help our guitarist with this, thats why i bought an rjm mastermind/rg16.... set up is a snap... i had the all access before it was easier to understand than his midi mate, im stumped the manual is difficult to understand.
