New Aldrich+ Mod

No fair using psychodave as a ringer. He knows how to dial in amps like a mofo.
And he knows how to get Cameron tone, really great fit for him.
Something with Nick,he knows in clips how to squeeze out that Cameron ground- the money shot.
This amp does sound rad and I’d buy an amp from Glip, he’s a solid dude and appreciate how serious he is about poking around inside amplifiers.
Nobody should taste electricity.
Keep on rippin’.

That sounds great! It would be interesting and to see what you had to do to change the circuit, not to copy it or anything just to see how you went about getting what you wanted out of the amp.

Thanks man. I have no real interest in sharing the ins and outs in detail with the general public. I will say there’s a glaring theoretical mistake in the Aldrich mod that I’ve always known about that I fixed in a novel way. It’s not perfect either - I still want to improve it too and think there’s even more on the table. The whole amp power side has to be tuned to make it work - it’s not a simple change and requires some math and measurements. Half the amp’s preamp is still gooped up with silicone so it’s more power amp oriented.

TLDR; it’s theoretical AF and it’s not a road I want to travel down. Just sharing a particularly badass Marshall

Doing it right with the two side by side 4x12's! Sounds killer. Also sounds like it would be fun to play if that makes any sense?

Thanks man!! Full stack all the way. Believe it or not but that was only the straight 4x12

When I tune amps I only use one cab. Two cabs can give false impressions of speaker response characteristics - you end up tuning the amp to a particular type of speaker which I don’t like to do.

Yeah the amps well balanced. It’s not overly tight but it isn’t overly loose either. It’s in the middle. It’s why I still keep my enmity mod around as that amp is loose and greasy as hell which I love.

This clip was the perfect antidote to those wretched Mesa Mezza messes. Thank you.

The fact I finished this mod during the timing of so much angst is slightly ironic. I have nothing against boosting but I personally think an amp should sound good before adding features to it, not adding feature paralysis to something mediocre to get better mediocre. I mean there’s not a single damn toggle switch on this amp - just two gain knobs and typical Marshall controls.

You inspired me ...

Racks are back. I love running rack effects into amps. So much chasing has happened lately into the whole amp into load into IR game that the extra hassle isn’t worth it to me. They have their place and sound amazing but so does a badass amp into a badass rack into badass cabs to give badass tone

Sounds great!:2thumbsup: Your new design did tighten it up.....but I kinda liked the original squish...... that gives it that Cameron greasiness.

Yeah on recording I can see where it would be preferred however in the room the amp was thin as paper sounding and had no balls. It also just wasn’t doing anything great IMO. I do hear what you mean though and my Bogner Ecstasy is my go to amp for that squish in lead tone so I didn’t need another amp that only excelled in that one category.

The HBE w/ the SAT engaged [which i hardly use cuz you gotta goose it] is about as heavy as id ever need to go but the OP's amp is got something special
I can't unleash the fury im my house to get the thunder going as neighbors and such.
I love all kinds of amps the Kammeroons too. One good guitar and amps amps amps.
