Hey guys,

I have almost saved enough money for a Diezel, but I'm not sure which one to get.

What are the differences?

I play Hard rock/Metal and want a good clean channel aswell.

Are there any differences between the VH4S and VH4 beside the stereo?

I'm gonna buy new, and can't try them before buying because I live in Denmark, and there aren't any dealers in Denmark.

thanks in advance! :)

I think the Herbert will be your amp. It´s the best for your kind of music and I love the clean-channel

Hello! :)
Post same stuff of your own or of the tone that you are looking for, clean and heavy and we can advice you better in your choice. ;)

I owned them both. The Herbert is still on top of my RIG and the VH4S is gone. ;)
Both are killer killer amps. But I preffer the Herbert and it suits my style better.
Thats the amp I would go with.

Either Herbert, VH4 or Einstein.

It would depend upon what you want to spend.

I had an Einstein and I loved it. An opportunity came for me to get the Herbert and I am SO glad that I did. It is just such a great sounding amp and so easy to dial in! The mid-cut rules!

:)

I'm keen on using the money that's needed! And I'm going to buy a Diezel cab too.

I'm a big Metallica fan, and that is obviously at big plus for the VH4. But everyone is talking very highly of the Herbert, and I don't want to miss out on anything. :D

I thought of going down the Mesa road, but they are simply too expensive over here, so I'm going to support the european amp-makers.

Metallica and Mastodon is my favorite artists.

:)

Herbert. I bought a VH4 and am now thinking of switching. The Herbert seems to do better overall and evidently you can get VH4 tones with the Herbert.

Cheers,

Metallica and Mastodon = VH4.

The Herbert is a great amp, too. I prefer the VH4, though, because it has MORE MIDS!

Saying that the Herbert is better than VH4 is ,imho, a mistake.
Both are amazing amps, they have similar points but also many differences.
I also don't think that the Herbert is really more..more..more modern voiced than VH4 2007+ versions.
Of course there are differences in voicing, compression, feel, tightness but trust me:
with the right axe, pickup and technique you can find modern metal and death metal also in the VH4..
..Metallica and Mastodon..my advice: VH4.
Ch3 on VH4 is metal heaven...but also the other channels are work of art.
;)

p.s. Vh4 is really different than Mesa sound, an unique amp i think: tight, dry and hi-fi sounding but all in a good way.

Like I mentioned, I ended up getting the VH4S 1st and loved it. But of course was always in wonder about the Herbert. I enjoyed my time with the VH4S. Incredible amp!!
But I am set for life with the Herbert. TO me that amp can cover all the tones I was getting out of the VH4 and MORE!

You cant go wrong with either amp to be honest. ;)

I would highly recommend the Herbert. Although I've only played a Herbert, I can't see it getting ANY better. It really is my "be all end all" amp. In my opinion, it brings the mid gain/high gain/modern/etc. All the sounds I want out of an amp. If there was one thing it doesn't have, that would be glorious cleans but, it is more than passable.

Man if you 're planning to spend 3000E, then do yourself a favor. take the (night)train and go to Musicstore. Then try them all. That includes Einstein
Then drink a weissbeer and deside by yourself.

Last time I was there, they only had a VH4, which was vandalized by some punks (along with some other high end amps) unfortunately...

If someone's sure they now stock more models, I'm going again tomorrow I think! :)

Let me know!

Um.......yes. :D

I would love a weissbier, but i'm living too far away. It would take me around 20 hours total and cost me alot of money.

I still can't decide...

But I'm leening towards the VH4 or the Herbert (maybe the Herbert a bit more) :D

Could someone give me a description of each amp? Or link me to one?

Thanks guys, you are being very helpful!

Yo MM... What EQ are you dialing in to get Channel 3 proper on the Herbert?? I mean, c'mon - if anyone can get the signature Channel 3 out of the Herbert as well, it would be NO contest. But the V's Channel 3 stays with the V, and the 2+ Herbert stays with the Herbster. C'mon man, I ain't splittin' hairs here ;)
