Bad decisions? You mean like removing the ESP name from the standard series, having them likely made outside of Japan but claiming "made in Japan" and rebranding them as E-II for the west? In the same set up and inspection lines as Edwards and Grassroots? All for $2500?

All of the above plus not counter suing Gibson like PRS did 😅

I like the Rhoads V shape, but the Warrior shape is more comfortable IMO, with more seating position options. I wish Jackson would make a thinner body for both, but that would likely cause neck dive.

Agreed, while I’m not a warrior shape fan, just like the explorer, it is way more ergonomic and easier to handle!

I absolutely love ESP but they're not known for the best record keeping and there seems to be a lot of confusion around the E-II, Grassroots, Edwards brand. It's really confusing. Maybe it's intentional.

Also there's a random custom shop in CA. That's like PRS putting a custom shop in Germany. All of the recent guitars I've played or owned have been really good. One E-II had a finish crack near the nut but that's been the only issue I came across.

same, i love their brand, their guitars and the artists that have been on there roster since the 80s...i just dont feel like they did a good job of capitalizing on the momentum they had coming out of the 80s/90s...but my review is all in hindsight so what do i know lol

I agree. I'm also petty and don't want to see anything but ESP on the headstock if it's coming from Japan. Prices on LTD all the way through E-II are outrageous. You can get a lot of really good guitars at the price range.

Custom shops are expensive but so are many other custom shop brands which is why it doesn't bother me as much as the LTD/E-II prices

well im not against ltd haha, i sold all my custom shop esps recently and only have an ltd left out of the bunch (and a couple of edwards), which is more than enough for my musical needs lol.

their custom shop is very good, one of the best imo. i just dont think they should have given into gibson as easily as they did. if choosing between gibson custom/esp custom...esp all day, every day (japan/not usa)

It seems Dean is putting up a good fight. I'd much prefer an MX over a gibson explorer too but I grew up a James Hetfield fan boy. Not enough to want to pay $17k for a guitar that was $3k pre covid though lol

lol i just sold both of my mx's for obscene amount of money lolol

completely agreed!!!

I would have done the same thing. You can always buy them back later.

honestly i dont even want em again...it was fun while i had them, nothing but great times, but it's like one of those things you "outgrow"

i'm glad i was along for the ride, glad i got to own em and just play em like a madman but now i hope the new owners get years and years of enjoyment out of them

i'll just stick to my lil korean made ltd lol

I don't get the E-II thing, at all. I have two of them, along with ESP Original Series and LTD 1000's. ESP Original plays like a dream, as expected. The E-IIs feel like thick painted cheap wood guitars with the fat necks you find on chibsons, but with "nice" Gotoh hardware. The E-II Arrow I have does not feel like a $3K guitar.

Oh wow.... I could pay $5k for the same specs as an LTD that cost $1k. And still not be able to move the volume knob out of the way...

There, now quit your bitching.

Now that’s a bummer… the E-II stuff has definitely been on my radar but have yet to try any

Yeah, not too impressed. I have an Arrow NT and a 7 string Horizon. I rarely pick them up. The LTDs are more playable, sadly. And those are becoming overpriced too for no reason.
