Gary’s tech, Steve, is a friend of my buddy who used to live in California. They met not too long ago when Gary borrowed Steve’s Kemper in a pinch. Gary liked his settings so much he hired him on the spot, and he’s been his tech ever since. Steve plays/played in Nukum, Psychotic Waltz, and Cage.

I saw that pic and thought "that looks like Bill Steer"

I diet fan boy a lot but I'm am totally a Bill Steer fanboy.
Bill Steer is criminally underrated. He has great feel, nice vibrato, good technique, interesting phrasing, and his leads are memorable. His rhythm playing speaks for itself.

Yeah and good God they pioneered what 3 or 4 different genres? He is not only criminally underrated but he is so freaking modest. I can sing most of his solos. How many death metal solos can you say that about?

I've been learning some stuff off their last EP and torn arteries this past week. They go from really simple to complex but they don't ever go overboard where it's not musical imho.

I have tickets to see Obituary, Amon Amarth, and Carcass next month. I am beyond excited. Also cattle decapitation is opening.

Very cool! Boosted Jubilees can get great sounds. Heavy as you want…with that eq being super responsive unlike most Marshalls. Had a 1988 2554 that I sat next to my 412; probably had the most questions about my rig when I used it 14 years back.
Thanks for posting!
I still own your old 88' 2554! With an analogman EQ7 in front of this amp it can go from smooth to cutting. Closest tone I've come to in comparison to my Cameron 2204!

Yep those black tolex Jube 2554s are killer and boosted can get very Cameron-esque…they have no choke vs the bigger heads, and they consistently sounded better to my ears when hooked up to a 412 than any of the 2550/2555s I had. They also had the last preamp design which had maybe a touch more gain and bigger lows

Spot on. Love his lead playing, feel, vibrato, technique, yes. Criminally underrated.
