New Kruse Disruption amp

I also think that in the wake of the Recto - Uberschall - Drop-Tunning - 7-string thing, people have become very accustomed to hearing guitar tones with near Kick-Drum and Bass-Rig low end. That may sound really cool in the room, but almost fights with the drummer and bass player for those frequencies in a mix - live or recorded. A while back, someone posted the raw guitar tracks from Still of the Night and I was really surprised how much of the ‘thump’ I was hearing on that album was coming from the drum and bass tracks. The raw guitar tracks didn’t have near as much low end as my ears hear in the final mix. This type of tone - with some tweaking - may sit really well in a mix.

Sounds horrid IMO. Not something I would throw out there if I were the builder. Second clip is better, but still not great.

I really feel the need to add this clip to the thread - I am not getting that overly bright, fizzy thing that everyone heard on the original post to the thread. I am thinking the high / crisp / fizz has got to be something you can dial out. This clip is intriguing...

And DAMN I love the bare wood cosmetics!!!

Sounds like something that would cut in a mix like a chainsaw.

I get it … clip sounds really harsh and thin through my iPad sitting at the kitchen counter. I pulled these clips up and listened to them through my desktop with nice external speakers, and there is a lot of low-mid in there that really fills out the overall tone and balances some of that high end. Not reaching for my wallet - but I’d really like the opportunity to plug into one with my own guitar running a quad of greenbacks and twist the knobs myself.
Yeah when I heard the clips through decent headphones they actually sound pretty good. I wouldn't throw the amount of coin at it he's asking, but it doesn't sound "bad"

Still awful

I don't get the appeal either 😬

I mean, I guess it's possible it was miced badly or was just a really terrible speaker choice (ala 5150 iconic first demo vid) but I listened on both monitors and nice bookshelves and it has a ton of harshness going on, and seems to be in the realm of "tons of gain, not a lot of usable gain."

That's just my opinion though 🤷‍♂️

Pure Junk.. Customer Service is third world. if that. don't waste your money. Amp tech is sorting it out now. Opened up and laughed. China Kit? My reply, Pandemic purchase.
I'm trying to not be too negative but I have way more faith in a Chinese build. I've seen a few amps that he mutilated.

I heard good things about the mods he did to some Euro amps, like Diezels...and never any issue with the quality of work? But, some modded Marshalls were not the best reviewed. Never tried any myself.

I don't want to trash on the guy, it takes a lot of effort and guts to launch an amp line, but I think he should've done something with a different aesthetic to give it at least the appearance of more polish. Couple of these were up used on the GC site cheap and I was barely even tempted.

Partially because I had an absolutely BEAUTIFUL, Blankenship 1959 plexi. Meticulous point to point wired with the best components, top quality amp - but with a hack job of glued in Kruse mods including the very same presence-replaced-with-master and variac knob on the front panel, with only a single power switch - the same as this Disruption amp. I never got that amp to sound right, it had all sorts of funny problems and desperately needed a lot of work to bring it back to its former glory... which was removing the mods. The happy ending is I returned it (GC wouldn't cover any repair on it) and the tech at another GC got his hands on it, emailed me, and had it properly fixed up and is enjoying it now de-krusified. It’s a bit second-hand impressions though, getting the amp used vs direct from Kruse.

I've only had very positive dealings with Jens. He does tend to dial in a lot of treble in his clips, but the mods I've experienced aren't inherently trebly.

That was me who posted that...and I agree.
