I just like anything that I feel is good quality (doesn’t matter the flavor). If I heard electronic stuff with good melody, harmony or rhythms I’d be all for it (I like the actual sounds in it), but I think most of those guys only know how to make cool, trendy sounds, not actual music
Oh bro, you got to bust out some armen Van buren or Johnny Zander! Bro!! Do you even know who skrillex is?! What about tiesto or diplo? These dudes write music that’s as beautiful as the finest symphonic orchestral pieces ever created! All they need is to sample a tambourine, a gun shot, a flushing toilet and a plastic garbage can being smashed! Just like the astros did!

You just like them because they use rectos. It's overproduced generic tripe. Production and songwriting is shit. and I'm not even high yet.
Yeah but dude, wait to you break out the hard weed and some crack cocaine! The. It really starts sounding fresh bro!! It even has a funky beat that you can bug out to!!

Lol for better or worse I’ve heard stuff from all those guys. One of my friends who’s a composer (studied at Mannes) actually loves some of those guys (not the ones you mentioned though), which I’m very surprised by, but I like some of the sounds they get. There’s plenty of bad classical music too. Honestly, I think with any genre you really gotta search long and hard before getting to many of the really good songs/pieces

I agree mostly but too much electronic will cross a line and I just can’t lol

For me a good melody is enough to hook me. When I was a huge video game nerd as a little kid (before I played guitar) I loved hearing for example the melodies in those Zelda games and a few other games despite the lousy 8-bit sound, while most others just thought it sounded awful. I’d rather hear that than say Nickelback where the sound is great, but no good musical content. Really it’s just very well groomed trash kinda like how EVH used those silly gimmicks to groom some of his stuff

No I just find it amusing sometimes to be a little argumentative, but don't wanna quite cross the line to troll territory lol. Like I said in other posts, if I really don't like anything about an artist I'll just not say anything. I again think he had some very cool riffs and rhythmical stuff (my favorite song by them is "I'm The One"), but to me most of the leadwork was trash in terms of musical content, the dive bombs and tapping was more often than not gimmick-y rather than musical the way RR used that stuff, and the plate reverb and other fx were just obnoxious (like a girl way overdoing her make up. Not tasteful at all). Everyone can flame me all they want, I'm not gonna hide with being diplomatic

My main thing is I like instruments where you’re actual touch makes the note sound and is tailored by actual touch . Preprogrammed sounds made to be sounded as is when activated just have no feel for me .

Hey to each their own . It’s like this Nickelback back band . I don’t think liking or disliking music should be such a big deal and get too hot in a debate .

I agree, which is partly why I play mainly classical guitar, but to me good musical ideas are still just that and the most important part to me. When I was younger I used to transcribe some electronic songs to classical guitar, a few by Avici as some examples and it did seem like some of my friends better appreciated the nice melodies and harmonies there when heard on classical guitar. There weren't any gimmicks or cool electronic sounds to distract from the raw musical ideas, where the timbres overshadow the music. Should be the other way around imo

You're right, I do get carried away when I could spend more time practicing or testing gear. I though have fun sometimes ripping on the stubborn EVH and Dimebag worshippers

That was another good one. Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy, Kirby, a bunch others had some great music, a few of which I did some classical guitar transcriptions of back in the day. I didn't like though when others thought these transcriptions were just "cute". Some of it was great, not just cute dammit lol

I will stand with you on Evh lead work (rhythm was godlike), but i am flipping you off behind your back with the insinuation that Dimebag isn't a fucking American Hero

I do like certain electronics added at times . Like Rammstein . The keyboard in Du Hast makes a killer riff . I like a lil blended

Hahaha I again love Dimebag for everything but leads, but he at least had some good ones here and there. I am very picky about leads, but won't claim to be anything great myself. Leads are too often treated as either a musical afterthought or just the chance to finally show off. Neither are great ways to approach it imo. I want ideally flash with class on leads, but that is like finding the needle in the haystack even in classical music

There are few other good ones. Maybe Scar Symmetry, but not sure if I'm confusing them with someone else lol

I am picky on leads too, and dimes never bothered me. But probably because that was my favorite band in highschool. But stop trolling this thread. It is about NickelHack

Definitely. They do have that . Shit I like dream theater too and stuff . As long as there’s real people jamming with the electronic sounds I’m good with that
