Hi Reverber,

Thanks for choosing to sell on Reverb. We want you to have the best selling experience possible so we’re constantly evaluating and evolving the tools and services we offer to help you sell gear easier and faster.

What’s Changing

On May 19, 2020, Reverb Payments will become the exclusive payout option for all sellers.
When an item sells, your funds will simply be deposited directly into your bank account.
While PayPal will no longer be a payout option, buyers can still purchase using PayPal and all other payment methods accepted via Reverb Payments.

Please take this opportunity to add or confirm your bank information. Just go to your Shop Settings, add the info under “Reverb Payments,” and you’ll be on your way to getting your funds deposited directly into your pocket. Until you add a bank account, your money will simply stay in your Payout Balance.

Why It's Changing

Reverb Payments allows us to provide you with the safest possible experience.
All transactions made through Reverb Payments qualify for Reverb Protection, so you'll get direct support from a musician who understands the value of your gear in the unlikely event that anything goes wrong with a sale.
Reverb Payments also allows you to accept a wide variety of payment methods, which attracts more buyers and helps you sell gear more quickly.

Have questions? More information is available in Reverb’s Help Center.

Bullshit I say. Now also you don't get the payout until the carrier has it.

Yeah... I read the email. Those latte sipping, EDM-listening, Prius-driving, hipster mofos can lick my @$$!

My thoughts exactly.

So go back to eBay?

I try to sell as little online as possible, but some things just don't sell local easily. Some uncommon things some boutique pedals, etc.

At the risk of sounding like the devil's advocate:
are the reverb payment conditions better than those of Paypal?
I mean, if someone buys something off you, pays with Paypal, they have a 180 day window to file a claim if shit goes wrong.

When I'm selling an amp, I don't want the opportunity that some shady buyer/illiterate noob changes his/her/it mind a HALF YEAR (!!!) down the road for whatever reason. And even IF they decide to ship it back, who knows in what condition, if parts/tubes are swapped for crappy stuff, what have you...
If Reverb Payment-option doesn't provide such long refund/claim windows, isn't that in your advantage as a seller?

FWIW, I'm from Europe and never deal with Reverb. Either our local Craigslist-like sites or Ebay.

I will no longer sell there, but I will buy.

It's buyers protection that wounds the seller and brings a long time of financial uncertainty.

If I'm not going to sell via Reverb, I'm not going to purchased via Reverb.

Pretty much. Ebay or here or on different gear forums. Craiglist is like whack-a-mole... too many nut jobs.

I had a feeling this was coming to Reverb though. You currently can leave your Reverb account unlinked to your PP account and still receive direct PP payments when selling. You would just have this notification message all the time while logged in, telling to link the accounts. Now... Reverb is closing that loop hole. They want total control. No thanks.

If even then....They will probably revise payout the policy to 'within three business days' from delivery.

I hate to say it, It has almost gotten to the point that if you want to flip a piece of gear, the best place to go is Guitar Center. Taxes, fees, shipping hassles, return policies, scammers and all the rest make the online thing not worth it any more. GC has always (well, twice) worked well with me if what I wanted was in their store. If you have time to wait, your stuff will eventually sell on Craigslist, but I usually buy shit on an impulse...it's more satisfying that way

Shooting themselves in the damn foot. Get on the Reverb chat and pass it along to them. I did, let em' know. It's a shame, I've had good luck with reverb.

Paypal is worthless for any seller protection

I'm not comfortable with Reverb having bank information, or anything else for that matter.

My last 30 sales / purchase has been .’bro deals’ here in rig talk. Any probs? We handle it amongst ourself.
eBay is my second choice.

I've always felt that way about paypal too. I keep a checking account around for cash and generally leave no more than $1k in it. I link paypal to it.

i'd actually been intended to use Reverb's own internal system for selling some gear because I don't like how paypal is set up to screw over sellers. My impression is that Reverb is more reasonable when it comes to that. I don't know. I haven't sold gear online in over a decade. I sold a ton, back when I could make people send me postal money orders on ebay......so, it's been a while! :)

I link to paypal credit...I don't even have to link a alternate bank account. You can go bank free with paypal credit and simultaneously have a paypal balance. You can choose between the two when purchasing with paypal.

I didn't ebay for YEARS when they took away the money order option and forced paypal on people(bank linked)....when they did paypal credit...that's when I started doing auctions again.

Lately (for me anyway) it's also been worthless for buyer protection. Recently had two ebay purchases that were never delivered to my address. I was home all day watching for the packages both times and they were not delivered even though the tracking said they were. Ebay sided with the seller in both cases and when I tried to do a paypal chargeback paypal sided with ebay both times as well.

A bit further off topic, but I also got screwed on a postage due egay purchase. I had to go to the post office and pay an additional $11 to get the item. Seller refused to reimburse me so I filed a complainy with egay. eBay's response? "Tracking shows the item was delivered. Your case has been closed". It was delivered all right, to the fucking post office with postage due. I knew that if I refused to pay the postage due the item would be shipped back to the seller, but then I would've been out the cost of the item plus the original shipping costs and egay would've said item delivered, because that is what the tracking showed.
