That band from Brazil, Sepultura, "Don't believe what you read" is appropriate here.

90% of my gear is USA made. All amps and guitars are USA, most pre 90's. Some I bought new like 40 years ago and I still play that shit all the time.

That doesn't mean I have never owned Chinese shit, I did, but I either sold it or gave that shit away. If it didn't break, yet. I did stuff a Chinese acoustic 12 string into a Woodstove once.

Where do you think those USA factories get the lightbulbs they use? The computers? The machines? The consumable stuff like rags and oils and glues? Most of that stuff isn’t coming from here.

It’s not as simple as “just buy American” because most of the backbone, day to day expenses of American business is supported by foreign products.

Like I said, I am old and do not give shit or take it.

rags? glue? light bulbs? please! C'mon.

How bout that slave labor? You can make an iPhone with a robot. More slaves now than ever in recorded time, including the USA, look it up, legal Catholic monk slaves making the pope's wine! serious slavery making anything in some countries like China all the way down! sucks for those who support it in the name of saving a buck. Don't believe me? O.K.

I feel bad for people like you who know all about this evil shit people do to other people, but could care less in the name of $ and look the other motherfucking way if it cost more, pure Evil.

The path to hell is paved with good intentions. Anything coming from Chine (sic) is shittier shit than normal shitty shit made with slave or near slave labor. Nets to catch the mass suicides. Great, really fucking human ain't it?

China and India = 95% of our medicine. ?????? O.K. or not? not!

Since I’m reading about light bulbs…How about this for a laugh; I recently bought a 100W incandescent light bulb to make an amp light bulb limiter. Since my state follows closest to the lovely state of California in everything the enact, I had the toughest time sourcing this bulb at a reasonable cost. Finally found one from Grainger, dependable, local, 100W incandescent. I get it after weeks of waiting for a shipment to come through. Go to plug it in, won’t twist into its socket. The thread is a lefty. Not too sure who made this but I’ve never heard of a lefty thread and I’m going to guess that this isn’t for a country located in the southern hemisphere… well I call Grainger in sunny Southern California and the person I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about but just shipped me another one for the trouble. You guessed it, another lefty thread. Far eastern manufactured jokes or American joke manufacturing haha.

Just trying to lighten up the mood because it’s going to be a messy market for some time.

Try ACE? That's where I got the bulb for my limiter. I think it might have been higher than 100W though.

All I know is companies will use any excuse to raise prices whether justified or not.
I live in the U.K. and last year I read into the statements by my water company since they jacked up prices. Among other things they blamed ‘the ongoing war in Ukraine’ for the increase in water prices. In the U.K.

Most people will let them get away with it since it’s an excuse to play team sports politics

Yes, 200W or 250W if I remember correctly, something that wouldn’t be as helpful so I stuck with a 75W to have better visual clues of working or shorting. Thanks for the store tip/idea!

Good lord what an excuse. I can’t stop laughing. Made my night!

Prices have gone up so much in the past 5 years, I think we’d all be shocked if there wasn’t some stupid reason to raise them again at this point.

I remember when our local utility company raised electricity rates because the price of natural gas had gone up due to the Ukrainian/Russian conflict. Don’t know how they are making electricity in my town.

Price conditioning is I think what they call it. After a price hike, we get used to seeing certain number at the fuel pump for example that we forget how long ago it was that fuel was at x price. Then wait a little bit and it starts to creep upwards again to the new “plateau”, to be reconditioned for the new “norm”

End The Fed
