Saw this one last week on Music Go Round and decided to make an impulse purchase. I never hear anything about these guitars for whatever reason. It just looked great, had great specs and was really cheap, $350 shipped, so I figured why not. Dunno why these aren't as popular as LTD's or Schecters. I'd say the quality is pretty close to the higher end LTD's and Schecters, but maybe slightly nicer. The top looks awesome IMO and after I dyed the fretboard it looks even better overall. Anyways, here are some before and after pics and the specs for anybody who cares. Oh and I still have no clue what finish this thing has. It looks nothing any on the Washburn website or what I can find on Google.

Man, these really are underrated aren't they?
No, just really ugly. :D

I think it looks really nice. I can see why some people wouldn't like the headstock though.

Yeah, I'd like an unpainted headstock and I'm not a big fan of quilt tops. The price was good though and I'm sure it plays great.

Hey I got one of those!! haha. I threw EMG's in mine. This one is solid black with red neck and body binding. My workhorse guitar. She ain't goin nowhere.

I can tell by your user name that you're a fan. :D Seems like yours might be some kind of limited edition model as well, I've never seen one with red binding like that. I still don't think mine has the Quilted Cognac finish.

Yeah, mine was a Music123 exclusive. This one was a blem and I got it for a little under $300 shipped. It has been my main guitar ever since 2004. They are seriously underrated guitars. I think it is one of the best imports out there. Most people who have played mine would swear up and down that it was American... until they looked at the back of the headstock. They were shocked to find out it was a Korean guitar. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I am currently looking for another one. Another limited edition I believe. Natural finish over a flame top. Mmmmm. I might even pick up the new one with a Floyd. I really want a trans blue one. I am always on the hunt for nice X50's. My wallet doesn;t agree with me though

Congrats on the badass guitar. Play the shit out of her!

Edit: Found the natural flame one. BADASSERY!!!

Washburns don't seem to get much love on the forums I visit.

However, I think they put out some very nice guitars.

I had one of these a while back and thought it was excellent....especially for the price.

I have also spent significant time with quite a few Washburns at the Boogie Street Guitars office in Pittsburgh. By and large, all the guitars I played there were great.

The only downside seems to be that they don't hold value very well, so if you flip gear, you will probably lose on resale.

The Idol series plays and feels really good to me too.

That natural finish one would REALLY look nice with a dyed fretboard. :D

If you look at the pics without seeing the head, it looks like a Schecter C* or ESP/LTD MH-model :)

Looks nice, and very nice specs, and VERY nice price :)

Haha yeah, it reminds me of the H-1001 I had, only without the gaudy binding.

I think they play better than Schecters or LTD's. I have played my fair share of both, and this blew em out of the water, IMO of course. Truly awesome guitars for pretty much a bargain. I have nothing but praise for my X50 and the others I have played.
