I wanted to build a "beautiful" guitar to replece the Suhr's that I recently sold. I bought the body off of the Warmoth showcase for $299 painted. The neck was $250.

Warmoth maple top on an alder back. Birdseye maple neck with 6100 frets. Double cream Duncan Custom in the bridge and Jazz in the neck. Callaham vintage trem/narrow spacing and Sperzel locking tuners.

I am really digging this guitar so far. I've had it about a week and it is thicker sounding than I expected. It plays killer. I'm not so sure about the Jazz in the neck, it's pretty vanilla sounding.

That guitar sucks ass, looks terrible as well. Now sell it to me. :D I'll take it off your hands. :D ;)

Looks great.

Looks great! Any issues with the neck fitting tight, etc?

I have built about 12 Warmoths so far. Every single one of them the neck has fit so tightly you can push it into place (which takes firm pressure) and then pick up the guitar by the neck and the body will not fall off or even move.

:inlove: Is that birdseye I see!

Yes, it's AAA birds eye. It bumped the cost of the neck up from $157 to $253.

looks killer, congrats!
i'm surprised that this body was $299, i thought they sell these kind of finishes more expensive

Finishes like this almost always run $450 on Warmoth's showcase. I checked the showcase everyday and one afternoon this was on there for $299. The woods were right, the weight was right and it was $150 cheaper than the one I was leaning towards. So after thinking about it for a couple of hours I clicked the Buy Now button. The next morning when I called to order the neck, the sales guy kind of hinted that the price didn't seem right for a painted, figured top but he said I got a smoking deal.

Steep price, but it's definitely worth it, makes the guitar look reallllll nice

I stumbled onto the cool combination of Duncan Custom and Jazz bridge for the neck. To me, the Jazz bridge in the neck is still articulate but has more balls and personality. It also seems to match up with the Custom better.

In any case, that is a great guitar and I hope it serves you well.

It`s lovely! :)
Chub, do you know if warmoth drill all the holes required? Like pickguard mounting etc?
Did you order the tremolo from Warmoth as well?

I`ve been spending a lot of time on their webpage the last 4 days, because I`d like to have a go at a single PU Warren De Martini-style axe. But I`m not good with woodwork at all, so I`m afraid of screwing something up....:D

Awesome.
