I had a Splawn QR.....Great amp...But the CCV has much more grind in the mids and more gain...It is just an amazing amp!!!

The trick to recording the CCV is to turn down the punch. The amp tends to over power mics since it can get so big sounding. Listen to the shitty clips of me playing the CCV and CCM at the 2009 NY Amp show. The CCV sounds like mush and the CCM sounds killer. In the room the CCV was big, fat and dark sounding while the CCM was bright and aggressive sounding.

I agree the CCV is a difficult amp to record clips. It never seems to sound like it does in the room.

But I love the CCV clip you recorded at the amp show. I can't agree w/ you there!
