Those pics look closer...wonder why the first pic looks off? Camera angles I suppose.

I can tell you the fellow who built it is world renowned for his builds and is obsessed with the details so anything glaring would just not be there.

That said camera angles are a funny thing. Here is a human finger found on Mars a few weeks ago.

man what a nice guitar btw, can't stop playing it.

Nice color and aging of it.

But can you hit some Jesus Just Left Chicago on it?

Sweet LP.

Carry on smartly.

I also had a post time out on me so all I'll say in this one is that is one badass mutherfuckah!

Congratulations and HNGD!

But can you hit a note and go get a cuppa and it's still ringing when you get back?

Beautiful guitar

How does he get around the copyright? Out of country?
+1 I'd like to know this too, if it's not too squirmy an answer.

Jesus Brad, you just can't fucking win!!!!!! No matter what, when you're happy there will always be someone around just to kick ya in the shin just to take a little of that happiness away     It's a beautiful guitar and the builder got the neck angle right which is one of the most important parts to me. Big congrats!!

No Worries, the whole thing is right, the guy who built it is a renowned fanatic when it comes to faithfully reproducing a 1959 Les Paul Sunburst and has 2 at his disposal to measure prod and poke.

heres a great thread on accurate Les Paul building : http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/luthier ... build.html

He know's what he's doing, I have a very good friend that builds Les Pauls and I sent him the pics knowing he will be impressed!

On real bursts, the tailpiece is not consistent, and the neck angle is not consistent. The neck carve is not consistent either. I have direct experience. Brad's guitar may as well be a real burst. But then there are real 59 bursts with steeper neck angles and "non-59" neck carves too. It's all good. That replica builder does a good job, and is actually well liked and well known. Spend some hours on burstserial.com if you don't have hands on access. Again it's all good.

Absolutely...but there are general rules of thumb that apply to most. Being handmade, there certainly were variances though.

Speaking of which, I'll have some coin headed your way come Friday. I know he usually collects the last half after completion, but I'm just gunna knock it all out so he can build with peice of mind. I know he's gotta have concerns like that in the back of his mind to some degree as he's carving away his private stock. but I'm not that guy.

That thing is beautiful! Did you ever get the guitars that you and Rob ordered from a guy who does similar work in Canada? That thread showing his build was one of the coolest threads ever on a gear forum.
