I just picked up a Classic thinking it was a "budget" Standard, but it's damn identical to my Standard except for the push/pull pots. The pickups are fine, pretty high-output, but I think I want to replace them with a JB or Distortion.

That said... how's the fret size on yours? Mine are TINY. Like vintage sized. I really don't know what's going on there.

very nice color!!

I just got a 2022 classic. Cheap. Plain top honey burst. I’m use to the low frets but sure wish they were a little taller.
Pickups are a little weak but workable.
I have a wildwood standard that’s just on another level though.

I do not understand Gibson's thinking behind the super low frets.

sorry, just to be clear both have pcb pots, but the classic is push/pull?
I was under the impression the standard had normal wiring but the same pickups

They sounded identical to me, idk

I'm guessing harkening back to the "Fretless wonder" days - mine weirdly doesn't have the super low slung fretwire

I would assume "medium jumbo" just by eye/feel

nice! i bought 61's for my LP before i bought the wagners from you, couldnt get them out fast enough lol

Ok cool! I just grabbed a standard that seemed like a good deal so perhaps I’ll muster up the courage to open it up and take a look lol

My buddy got the 61’s in his new standard, I thought they sounded pretty good thru my amp. Nice push and compression.

Absolutely, I was surprised

Normally gibsons modern pickups don't do much for me but these sound pretty decent :dunno:

I have plenty of aftermarket stuff I can put in if I want or need to - we'll see how they do at band practice tonight
