I know we talk about amps, pedals and guitars here a lot. But we never really seem to talk about the DIY side of it all too much. So I thought I would share something I just put together using Warmoth parts. Warmoth did all the finish work, I just drilled and assembled.

:rawk: "Tito, Could you hand me a tissue, please?" :rawk:

Let me introduce you to "Burn Unit"

There are some great grain lines that go the length of the neck and finger board, almost a "ribbon" effect. Very cool.
Sorry for all the pics, but I got a new camera. \:D/
The pics don't show it well, or at all, but you can see the flame top through the transparent brown sides, sort of like the clear masked binding.
I also wanted to show how the flame changes tone and color as you move around the guitar.
It's hard to tell, but there are amber streaks in the flame that come and go as you change angles when looking at it.
Very three dimensional and alive. :rawk:

Enjoy.

Played it last night at one of our shows. Plays and sounds great. Hard to believe that it feels and sounds like my Les Pauls (other than scale length of course). Nice, warm and full. You would not know there was a Floyd on it by the tone it gets. I'm extremely happy with it. This is my rock/metal guitar, full and thick. My Tele, "Blue" is my chimey rock guitar. Having both of them is an awesome combination.

Looks great! Did you have to do much fret work or nut work after you got it together?

I'm in the process of learning how to do guitar builds and repair myself. I'm also learning about pedal building. I figured since I've pretty much run the gamut of gear out there.... why not try and roll your own.

I shimmed the locking nut a little to help get the action real low without buzzing on the open chords. No fret work was needed, only a truss rod adjustment.

Looks fantastic, love where the pup selector is as well for those fast pinky slaps!

Yeah, he has an old JCM that has been ragged on pretty badly through the years. So I let him borrow my SLO. Nice and tight, works well for balancing his rhythm playing against mine, where as my Uberschall is thicker and chewy.

Very cool. What did you end up paying for all of it?

I have to say your guitar is one of the better/best BYOG's I have EVER seen. I love the knob placement, the different, yet not ugly, headstock, KILLER flame neck and body, NO FRET MARKERS    . Only negative thing I can say is that I dont care for EMG's and the control cavity looks a little big. So what did it cost to build?
Roughly about $2500-2600.00, including EMGs.
