What do you guys know about the original ESP GL-56 custom shop only run? I scored this last month and the research I did I find different stories but the summary is ESP was going to make 56 and ended up only making 52 of these bad boys. These are NOT the same guitar as the one's they put out a few years ago with the chrome humbucker in the bridge. this one has his autograph on the back of the headstock too... it plays like a dream and sounds great. not entirely crazy about the pickups but all in all I think its a total badass.. do any of you guys have one?

Sexy! Love me some lynch signature models. Skulls and snakes has been my main player for over 15 years

Very cool! Wanted one of these for a while back in the day! Love the GL's!

Nice plank, although not from the original run. Yours is a special order, I'm thinking. The logo is very unusual.
The originals were done in around ’97, with Seymour Duncan monikered pickups and a regular headstock and logo. They were reliced in a maniacal way and made of basswood.
I had one, and as cool as it looked, basswood is fairly flat sounding so it didn't last.
Yours is related to the second incarnation of which there were a fair few made, although not custom like yours.

Hey thanks for the info. I thought it was something like that. I DO know the cat paid more than 4k and waited almost 18 months to get it made.. yep definitely a lot of options here not on the production ones. these are ESP pickups and man, I just do not like them... really lacks bite and balls. I'll be replacing them soon.. A friend of mine offered my 4k on the spot for it so I was wondering if there is anything special about these guys that I am not aware of?

how much did you pay for yours?

Take the 4k and run.
Mine was $1500 from Mars Music.

No sh*t? Man I'm going to follow up on this then! What year was yours?

Hard to recall, 97/98?
They had a round vintage neck profile and looked great.
There were many years until the next version.
I was excited to try one, thinking that alder was the answer, and it now had a bucker in the bridge, but the neck was very different with a thin profile and the one I tried was pretty disappointing.
Not guitars I lose sleep over.

Haven’t seen a GL with this logo. Is it all stock or modded? Looks really nice and classy. Do you still have this guitar? Just curious what pups worked best when you replaced them .
Thanks

6 year old thread.

Hello @guitarnate2000 ,
By a longshot, do you still have the COA and other stuff for this guitar?

I sold it for 4k when I had an offer that high.. she is long gone, brother
Thanks for the reply @ guitarnate2000 , I actually acquired the guitar from $bay. The bridge pup was replaced with Seymour Duncan (JB, I think), and it didn't have the COA. It came with a beat up ESP hard case. I'm in the hunt for the COA but probably the last owner before I bought it lost it. Too bad ESP does not re issue COAs.
