NGD Gibby 70's V

These have a history of finish checking. A lot of used ones I've looked at have it around the binding and especially around the nut on either side of the neck around the binding. That's why I've stayed away from them. Don't know why it's so prevalent.

It's really odd that a manufacturer of such long history still has QC issues like this...

If I didn't get the deal that I got and had to pay full pop, I would pass too. I looked at some original 70's V's and they are just too expensive and have lots of fit and finish issues from normal aging...

Plus, some of those vintage ones can sometimes have worse QC issues. I have a friend who is the vintage V guru around here and it took him about 30 different vintage V's before he found three that he bought...

Hold on, is this guitar an actual 1970’s vintage one or a new reissue? You mentioned taking the plastic off the pick guard so I’m guessing new. And BTW very nice playing. You will do the MSG material justice!

New reissue. Thank you! I just pulled the noodling out of my rear....lol. I will sit down and learn the tunes properly when I pick a set list. When I was a kid starting out, my main influences were MSG, Angus Young, and Gary Moore. Later, Randy Rhoads. I never gravitated to EVH until much, much later. Still not much of a EVH type player. I can hack my way through the VH tunes, but barely...lol...

I’ve had it since it came out but for anyone who wants an amazing live album of Schenker doing his stuff and UFO, his Unforgiven live album just sounds incredible. It came on at random in my phone/car today and I had forgotten how great the mix and performances are.

I have been on a V mission for a long time, and moved from looking at 70s ones to looking at CMTs and Deans because of the old ones QC issues.

For whatever reason, that era of gibsons, it's very, very difficult to find good ones. Obviously if you do find one theyre phenomenal, but they aren't as well QCed as the LPs of the era at all
