NGD: Gibson 1955 LP Custom reissue

Just picked up a 2019 Japan limited run 1955 Black Beauty Reissue. Mahogany cap, long tenon, true historic parts (whatever that means) etc.

9lbs 5oz which is fairly light for a non-weight relief Custom. I've seen weight-relived ones that are 10lbs+.

59 neck profile ie not a baseball bat but not too thin either.

The stock pickups are surprisingly crunchy and can do thrash metal with amp gain turned up. I do have a BKP Pig90 on order though.

I'm stealing the seller's pics since he's a much better photographer than me...

The BKP Pig 90 finally arrived and working great in this guitar. Still one of my favourite pickups.

Not too impressed on the Ragnarok I got for the Silverburst though. A mate loves the one in his R9 but I guess it doesn't react too well with a boat anchor. Probably gonna swap with the Painkiller I have in my Explorer.
 
I really need a black LPC. I love my silverburst, but black is so damn clean. Congrats on the NGD.
 
Was working in a dealer back in the 90’s and we had the reissue and an actual ‘55. The ‘55 was one of the nicest sounding P-90 guitars I’ve ever heard. It did sound better than the re-issue but c’mon, that’s not a surprise. The reissue was no slouch and sure wish salesman made more money than we did in a guitar shop. Always had a soft spot for the 57 LPC custom re-issue with the triple pickups. Fat neck but very playable. Congrats on a great score.
