Getting away from 7s/8s for awhile....the fuckin necks always bug me as they're too wide and too thin...either wouldn't bother me, but both makes my hand cramp up something fierce. Enter this thing. Got a neck like what would happen if an ESP and a LP had a baby.....flatter in the middle like an ESP but thicker like a 50s LP. Dig it...was a little concerned about buying something like this as an import, but it came from a friend and he's a good judge of guitars, so I took a chance. This thing is a monster.
Not sold on the Nazgul/Sentient combo, but I'm waiting on an Axe II and I wanna see how they sound thru that before I dump em, although I do like them better in this guitar than in the KM7...they seem less dry and more saturated in this than the Schecter; don't know why. I have the EMGs this guitar originally came with so I might throw those back in and see what difference there is....I can't help it, I'm an unabashed EMG fanboy. They're tight and cutting and easy to record with...I've really been digging the EMG 57 in my LTDs lately, so I might off these and grab a set of those instead.
Good fretwork, really nice rosewood board...one vol, one 3 way, killswitch, Gibraltar II bridge. Nice and low profile, pretty easy to palm mute on.
Currently in open B with a 10-13-17-30-44-62 set...pretty balanced tension on this...tight enough for riffs but still bendable.
If you're looking for a cheap baritone to mess around with, you could do a lot worse for the money. This thing sounds HUGE.
