This guitar is pretty cool. It plays so well I can’t even believe it. Sounds great with high gain or clean tones, yes, yes, I know, cleans are largely disregarded here and maybe even a violation of rigtalk policies. Anyhow, this guitar kicks some fairly serious ass.

Very nice ! Might be the maple neck coupled with aged humbucker that gives it more clarity than a run-o-the-mill LP. Those 70s LP custom often sound great...

Man that's a beauty. I love an all black LPC with gold hardware. There are very few guitars outside of a James Tyler that are worth spending money on. Congrats my friend, you have pulled off the impossible and managed to find one that qualifies!

Yep. I have an '80 and the stock bridge pickup has way more crunch than it's output would imply. But mine has chrome...this one is the proper gold. One of the only guitars I like gold hardware on.

Very nice Mike !!
Is it build in the year 79 or is it a 79 year model?
Sorry I don't know my Gibson's very well but know they do year remakes.

Those old Norlins kick ass. Been on a kick playing mine all the time as of late.

Why on earth would you buy a guitar from the same year as the Iran hostage crisis and also the same year KISS put out Dynasty?

When he was elected, Regan threatened his first action as the president would be to blast Kiss' Dynasty 24/7 to the hostage takers until they gave up the hostages.

You saw the result.

Yes, I am looking for a Tyler. Sold one a while back and regret it. It played and sounded so good: it was factory relic’d and fiesta red with a really dark board. Love their single coils also.

It was actually built in 79, this isn’t a custom shop relic. Although, I would like a Murphy lab lightly aged 1960 standard. But, I won’t pay Murphy lab prices.

Nice black beauty !! Does this 79 era still has the pancake body with laminated necks ?
