Fucking fedex... They delivered my guitar who knows where. They kept asking me if I'm sure it's not there. Yes I'm sure. The person who signed for it doesn't exist at my company. So anyway they opened a case to find it. I'm beyond pissed as it was supposed to be delivered yesterday and was "on the truck for delivery". Almost everytime something is "on the truck from delivery" then doesn't show up that day, it's almost always lost.

Fedex pulls this shit constantly down here - I die a little inside every time I get a tracking # and find out it's being sent Fedex. So far I've never had them successfully recover my shit. At least I got refunded

Surprise fuckin surprise 🤦🏻‍♂️ So sorry dude. FedEx has never been the same since 2020 covid. I live in Orange County CA and am on day 3 waiting from Fremont CA (5-1/2 hour drive from my home) waiting for a guitar. I called them yesterday and they basically told me to calm my tits. Beyond unacceptable. UPS would’ve delivered next day but possibly damaged. UPS are a bunch of apes. Which is the lesser of those two evils, ya know?

Man I worked for FedEx as a delivery driver for about 4 years, and quit after Covid.

It went from a part time type thing to a never ending grind; I could do 50-70 deliveries an hour and be done by noon daily.

When Covid hit it went to 350-400 stops a day and they wouldn’t let us leave until every package in the hub was on a truck.

I’d get there at 6am, wouldn’t be able to leave until like 10:30am and be out delivering until 8-9pm in every kind of weather.

The label being unreadable is a real thing; those trucks are filthy and sometimes the labels get worn down/dirty enough that you physically cannot read them.

FedEx is a total shitshow in every sense of the word.

Quit right after that crap and I’ll never go back.

Hope your guitar shows up today OP!

Fed Ex also needs to stop giving a shipping locations to these fly by night retail shops.
My J-Custom got shipped to one of these locations. I would have rather it went to their central depot.

First of all, they never called me to tell me it arrived and their online tracker showed in transit.
Could not find it even after calling them.
Thankfully the retailer I purchased from I have dealt with before was great and went a few steps higher than I was able to.
Turns out it was at this stupid 2-bit "Cell Repair shop" (for a couple of days) that Fed Ex has deemed one of their "delivery hubs".
Do they ever check these places to see if they are even legit and can handle this type of thing?

You know things are interesting when you walk into a place and it just seems like a chaos portal.

I was looking at the box sitting there when I went to pick it up.
The guy says he can't find it. Took 10 minutes to look around.
Finally, I walked over, pick up the box and said, "here it is"
Their computer wasn't scanning the box correctly. Had to fill out paper form as received in their logbook.
Apparently so did everyone else as they could not seem to get their sh*t together. LOL.

Oh well....next time I'll just request that they leave something like that at the main depot for pickup.
Just happy to have been able to get it.

Wow. I guess I'll have to cross my fingers. FedEx generally has been good for me both shipping and receiving. They do pull a thing where they load it on a truck but don't deliver that day and call it something random (exception, lost, whatever). That obviously sucks but I kinda assume it's a driver who just wants to clock out for the day and I'm sure that job is no fun now, so I can't blame them. But I get really upset when it's a guitar and it's winter, because I don't want it left in the back of a truck overnight, but I've had luck calling and whining very loudly.

And UPS does the same thing and will also occasionally break stuff.

Well she is hope safe and sound. I absolutely love it. And holy fuck do I love these pickups!

There are a lot of issues with Fedex right now. UPS is aggressively going after their business. They just gave me a 62% discount on my account.
I can ship a 50# box that is 48x18x9 to the next state over for $21.00

Im glad you like them. I still get nervous ever set that goes out the door. I understand that pickup tastes are personal are all over the place. Add on the fact the the Wicked 8 isn’t a polite pickup and there’s alot of guitar types that I havent tried it in, it’s always a relief to get positive feedback. As for the neck pickup, I remember going a little hotter than my normal neck because I know that explorers are hefty and the W8 is agressive, I wanted a little more juice without loosing clarity to keep up with the W8 in that guitar. I hate muddy neck pickups.

Guitar looks great! Has that Hetfield vibe to it.......

Is it bolt on neck or set neck construction?....There hasn't been a back side pic yet................

That was a good call on the neck. I'm always nervous on neck pickups. My Aviator has a BKP and I think I have a sentient in my Charvel. This smokes both of them. It's not even close. This is actually my favorite neck pickup I've ever had.

Of course the bridge pick up is perfect too but the neck pickup was really a huge surprise.

Awesome, Thanks! Neck pickups are the one thing I haven’t standardized. Most people look at them as utilitarian and don’t have a strong preference on specs like they do for bridges so I have take a guess. All of these winders that advertise “calibrated” necks is really just their preference to go with their bridge, but just like bridges, they sound different in different guitars, so I feel they should be custom to the guitar. I tend to go lower wind in a LP than on a bolt on because the neck is literally glued right under the neck pickup and I feel like there’s more coupling and output. Ive had tons of muddy LP neck pickups. You mentioned you like the Aldrich neck, which is 9k. So, I didn’t want to go that high and just wound yours a little hotter than my normal recipe.
