Though I've never liked watching his movies really, I think he is a very good actor indeed. I was very pleased by his performance in Matchstick Men. He had a few other very good movies too.

Birdy is a good movie with him and Mathew Modine. Early on he was fantastic but ever since he was cast in The Rock it's been a steady decline as Hollywood tried to make him an A-List action star. Fucking Con Air.........had to gather myself there for a second.
I also think he was back to great form on 8mm. The scene where he has Gandolfini at the murder site and can't kill him and then calls the girl/victim's mother is great stuff.

But he's made his share of really crappy movies. I don't think he's a bad actor at all -- I actually think he's pretty good. I just think he's just made a lot of really bad film choices.

I liked Lord of War. But what do I know? I don't claim to be a "movie critic", if something is entertaining I will watch it once.

Although watching him knock out a lady while wearing a bear suit was pretty entertaining

I've loved every movie Cage has been in, I personally think he is a kick ass actor IMO.
