i have an Ecstasy module and a bassman. both are fantastic. Really looking forward to the Tone King when it comes out. It's a really cool ecosystem!

Happy NMD 🤘🏻

Those things look convenient. But I was curious what these do that lets them thrive in the age of software modelers?

Yea i will spend some money on modules no doubt lol. Like a kid in a candy store

I've got a really nice Carvin TS100 power amp sitting here with nothing to do since I sold all my preamps. The Syn 2 has kind of caught my eye, but those funds are earmarked for a Friedman Jose if/when the chance presents itself. Happy New Module Day!!

the main thing is feel. Modelers get close ( i have Kemper and Tonex) but just don't quite get the "amp in the room" thing. They sound great through the PA and in IEM's, but lack a little on stage. Active FRFR's get close. Some argue just as good or close enough. Synergy is a real amp with removable preamps applied to whatever power section you use, i prefer the feel of the real amp over modelers (I'll still be using my Kemper and Tonex, sometimes it's just a matter of the venue and situation).

Just my .02

A Carvin TS100 came for sale locally for a whopping $400. Contemplates it for a minute but there aren’t any real magazine reviews (for the time it was released) or YouTube videos reviews since it’s been discontinued. I haven’t been able to make a decision on it because of seemingly hefty price tag for a 20year old power amp that was $500~ new as I recall.

I gave a hair under $400 for mine, but it was pretty much NOS. I felt like it was a decent deal.

Fair enough. Perhaps I’ll check it out. Not to side rail but I’ve been trying to score a different 90’s/00’s rack power amp locally but the seller has been giving me the run around for the past 2 days with scheduling the meet up and then delaying the meet up, then canceling the meet up. I’ll try a few more times before I’ll chalk it up to flakiness.

Not sure about today's prices, but I used to have a TS100 years ago and it's a good power amp, can't go wrong with it if it's in good working order.
