I live in St. Louis and it seems like we ALWAYS get passed over for concerts. Everything goes to Kansas City or Chicago. Any ideas why; venue size, poor turnout, crime, etc?

I've always called KC (where I live) a flyover city, but yeah I bet it's worse in St Louis

I’m mid Michigan. Back in the 70s-80s all the huge bands played Saginaw Civic Center. I saw AC/DC Dio Iron Maiden Kiss....
Now no one plays here. Kiss did few years ago. Think that was the last big band.
Not sure why concerts just stopped.

Kiss played my city the night before they recorded Alive album in Detroit

Are you talking about one of the most dangerous city in the world?

Is St. Louis Missouri Bad?

The most dangerous city in America was St. Louis in 2017. According to rankings by WalletHub, St. Louis was rated as one of the top ten most dangerous cities. According to the United States Census Bureau, 66.6% of killings occurred among t 100,000 residents. In this case, homicide killed more than ten times more Americans than at the national level.

What Is Bad About St. Louis?

Crime seems to be St. Louis’ major factor that put it so close in popularity. As the largest state in the U.S., Kansas is known for its high violent crime rate. In a city that has the biggest percentage of people living in poverty, crime continues to be an issue. Heavily penalized cities are those with higher crime rates in the ranking.

It seems like we get all the big names and a lot of concerts. I mean, since Covid it's been shitty...but I can't say we get passed over for much.

These numbers are very, very skewed. Nobody is going to argue that St.Louis has a terrible crime problem...but where the majority of the crimes are happening is in a VERY concentrated area. Also, St.Louis city and county are counted as separate places. If you look at county crime stats (which is about 75% of the area population) it is much, much lower. North City/parts of downtown contribute a MASSIVE amount to these crime stats, and it is a very very small area.

Haha, nobody is going to argue that it's a safe place everywhere. I have had issues with stolen gear downtown, it's absolutely ridiculous..I won't gig any of my nice stuff anymore. Fact is though, that entire area of the city is a small place. There are a lot of nice areas and really awesome things about the STL area. There are a lot of really bad things. Also, your first link you put listed St.Louis in "Kansas" up top. Thought that was kinda strange.

I have lived in this area my whole life. (Missouri/Midwest). I like a lot about KC, there are a lot of things I don't like. It's a very similar place to STL although, I think culturally, STL has more to offer in terms of art/food. KC is a more "western" city....STL is more east coast.

Sounds like you are having better luck than I am. No one I really want to see this year is coming.

This. If St. Louis county and city were lumped together like most other metro areas, I don't think we would be number 1 anymore.

Unfortunately a lot of the concert venues are on the edge of where crime starts to escalate.

Yeah man, I played U City a lot, Midtown...all the old clubs (Creepy Crawl, Rocket Bar, FUBAR ect) It got so bad that we had to have a dedicated person standing by the band vans/trailers. And then people started getting robbed. It's a damn shame. I live on the East Side now, Alton actually has a good scene in the summer months if you want to ever play.

Prichard Alabama most dangerous city/ town per capita in the US :hys: Chances of being a victim 1 in 23, pretty good odds huh?

I don't know man.
Outside of Covid?
My wife and I saw Guns & Roses last time they were here.
Both of the last Slipknot tours (w LoG then Korn)
Killswitch Engage
Stones were here not long ago (didn't go to that one)
Van Halen's last tour.

Now that I look I see there is also coming...
Kid Rock, Sammy, ELO, The Who, Elton John, Santana, REO, Journey, Ghost, Volbeat

and then there is always Jon Bon Blome and Def Leotards and Motley Fool and Poisened are coming (kidding I love all of these guys)

It is pathetic that other cities make Cincy and Cleveland in my state look like Disney world...?

Most of these cancelled shows are due to COV-19. Trust me, I'm seeing KISS in May and this is the 4th, count it, 4th time this show was rescheduled. I got the tickets in Spring 2020.

I missed RATM, Roger Waters, KISS, Mac Sabbath, and others due to COV-19. I've seen a few cool shows but have missed some big one. Hoping to see Maiden again this Summer
