made in UK it seems.

Yeah, it's got the Union Jack on it. I think that Earhart is in England but for Jet City to sell, it has to be $699, so it will likely end up in China. I don't know though and am just playing the devil's advocate. If there is no licensing partnership, it certainly looks like there is a fly in the ointment though. Guess those that are interested will have to see how it plays out. I don't think there is a patent on an amp circuit though, is it?

Mesa has some patents, some of them being ridiculous though.

Price shown at NAMM was either $2499.00 or $2599.00 US--can't remember. Will someone buy a $2500 Jet City? Everyone I talked to who played the amp either said, "I'm getting this amp" or "I SO wish I could afford this amp." We'll see...

Seeing as how this is Martin Kidd's MK circuit, I wonder if JC is going to offer pine cabinets? The pine cabs are an integral part of the "Cornford tone".

Depends on the availability of pine in China.

We'll send them all they need.

China puts out a nice looking harder wood plywood i've seen at HD, God only knows what it has for toxins! :scared:

Suppose they've got pine or something soft, plus we export the shit out of wood in the PNW.

Here. We'll send you the wood. You send me a 412 cab back and price it at $399, speakers included.....

I was talking to Wally at Cornford USA earlier today. He got an email form Paul, but hasn't gotten back to me yet on what's going on. He's as much in the dark with this JC amp as the rest of us... We suspect that Martin may have "jumped-ship" and struck a deal with Doug at Jet City. The wiring in the Earhart is most definitely Martin's artistry. The Made In UK moniker pretty-much says it all I think. BIll and Mike at Soldano had my MK50H II for about a month, and I did give them Martin's contact info, so maybe it all started there? Bill was quite impressed with the MK50H II - or so it seemed.

That's probably the best bit of info to date that you've posted. You got to watch these amp builders. All sorts of back door deals are cut and leave the end user to sort out the facts and decide for themselves. I am not sure which part of being up front with your customers doesn't make good sense.

Think I will pull my Cornflake. The price just went up.....

Steve

Pulling it is probably a good move?

Hell, i've been eyeballing it with all this shit going on.

Also heard that Kotzen has left Cornford for Marshall...

This is hardly shocking. He plays Marshall live quite often.

I know Cornford was waiting on parts for several months. The last time it was a year and a half waiting on CTS pots. They use special values. I always thought Martin and Paul were close friends. Martin is the designer. I find it hard to believe JCA would have done this without consent. Cornford has had many struggles. Martin builds one killer amp. I would be in line for a 100 watter. Martin deserves to make a living. Maybe Paul gave him the go ahead. I hope Paul is ok as he was struggling with Cancer about a year or more ago. I doubt Martin would have done wrong to Paul. Been through too much together. After all the Cornford name is Paul's.

Pulled while we see how all this sorts out. I don't want to leave any money on the table

Glad Scott posted this when he did.

I dunno...Cornford's resale value has never been strong. I think this actually might lower the value considering you can buy a clone on the cheap and there may be no service support from the manufacturer if they are in fact defunct.

Kind of makes me wish I would have kept my MK50H II. I still have my Corny cabs, and a Hurricane to kick around on. Cornford isn't going to be able to compete with the $2499.00 price tag of the Earhart 50, so I think it's safe to say that Cornford is through building hand-wired amplifiers. My guess is that Paul will continue on with the Roadhouse PCB line of amplifiers? Maybe even contract the builds out to China? All the kids are doing it...

A clone is a clone.
