Non-Marshall Style High Gain Options

Hi everyone,

I've found I am very attracted to the modded Marshall builders mentioned here frequently (Friedman & Wizard for example). I think i'm covered there. But could someone give me some insight on the prototypical American high gain sound (Mesa, 5150?) that is different from the marshall / modded marshall sound. I'd be curious to hear of some boutique companies doing something similar or those takes on that American high gain sound to show them some love.

I can only think of one amp that is highgain that isn't based on the English (Marshall) family. The Mesa Mark series comes from American (Fender).
Is there really any other families ?
