Just a few of my opinions about my Herbert and the 3 Mesa cabs (amongst others) I've owned.
1) I really liked my Traditional Mesa with V30s and the Herbert, but it didn't have enough low end grunt for me. For the record, I mostly play in standard tunings and usually heavy/hard rock, not metal.
2)My stock oversized 2x12 Mesa was decent with the Herbert. I swapped the 2 V30s out for C90s and now it's much better. Not as fizzy, better low end, tighter, not as boomy. A definite keeper for me now.
3)My Road King cab kicks all kinds of ass with the Herbert. The V30/C90 mix works well with the amp. Very open sounding, tighter (surprisingly) than my Oversized 2x12 was with V30s. Good bass response too.
4)K100s didn't sound good in the Mesa cabs. I much preferred the K100s in a cheap frontloaded cab I had and that includes loading them in my Mills Afterburner. In the end, I sold all my K100s and have gone with C90s (and some borrowed Rola G12-80s) as a replacement for them. They sound much better to me and work well in rearloaded cabs.
5)V30s mixed with T75, C90s or K100s sounded better than straight V30s with the Herbert. T75 would be my last choice of those 3 though.
6)If you can afford it, a Mills Afterburner will blow away the Mesa cabs. Clarity, projection and amazingly tight and full bass response.
