Ordered a Pinball since it's on sale, been curious about it since it came out.

Still love the Focus I got.

i got the last one in red, also a blue dragon...how do you guys prefer the trimpot on the dragon? i have it low at the moment...about 30% on the standout. Also tried the OPA2134 opamp swap on the standout but preferred stock.

I went to his website this past Monday and they were sold out, checked his reverb store and there was was only 1 left in stock. I was lucky enough to get the very last one in Red with the text graphic. There are officially no more. I got lucky, a friend was telling me I need to get one because its a great pedal and are soon to be no longer available. Just received it today and I can say that this is one hell of a boost pedal. Worth every penny and priced fairly. In my short time with I’ve found it to be really useful and look forward to spending some time fine tuning it with my amps. I’ll be looking for another, if anyone wants to sell theirs, I’ll take it.

lol, I want another one too.

What do you think of it compared to the Fortin pedals you own?

It's different, kinda like a Maxon OD808 on steroids... more range and controllability, also has more flexibility with the feature set. The Fortin pedals are more direct in their functionality, more strait to the point in what they achieve as a "clean" boost. The cool thing about the Fortin designs is they are dummy proof in a sense, whereas the FVE Standout can pose some challenges in getting it to where it sounds good with your particular amp/s. The standout is very cool for the adjustable ranges it has...great design for a mid booster.

Hilarious, I’ve been watching Peters reverb store daily since the shutdown announcement I posted here about unity gain and watched his stock dwindle to zero subsequently. Glad I own a harem of standouts as is lol.

Fortunately even though I missed them, the boards are still available on Madbeans. When all else fails roll your own

That said the pedal build will wait until after the amp I'm working on so it will be a while.

Peter had said he is going to stop making pedals several times in the last few years. If he is really done this time I do not know.

I want another Standout simply to have the internal trim pot set differently for different amps. I did consider drilling a hole in the base plate for quick access, but buying another one seems better.

I did order a Pinball EQ as well. I have a feeling it will be something that wasn’t needed until you realize you need it. Haha.

Oh yeah, I own a few boards as well.

I don’t understand why you would want he trimpot set differently for different amps unless using the blend knob. The purpose of the trimpot is to better balance the volumes of the eq and blend side when using both.

Are you using the blend knob?

Ive done much testing since finding this out and when minimized my unit gain is near One o clock, when maxed its near 9 o clock, both sound the same, just different places on the output dial as expected.

I'm very interested in what people think of the Pinball EQ. I have not tried this one.

I use the blend knob, but even the “normal” signal is affected, so I tend to leave it maxed. I’ve found that when the internal trim pot is 1/2 way, the level knob still adds a lot to the signal even just barely on, I’ve found that rolling back the trim pot to almost 0 allows the level pot to be used a bit more. Now rolling back the trim pot and turning up the level while using a stock JCM800 doesn’t yield the same amount of gain/attack I want. So I would have to turn up the trim pot to get it to where I like it.

That makes sense to me.

Buying my first three seven strings today, can’t wait to redial and try the standout in A/G. ??

I ordered these two. Decided to wait on the third merrow mkiii as it has the same neck as the SLS, Left handedness limits my choices heavily.

That Reaper is badass.

Can the Dragon achieve a clean boost like the Standout if the drive control is turned all the way down? If I had realized how awesome this pedal is ahead of time I would have bought two.

Yes but has a different character to it when compared A/B. I have 2. ?

Agreed. To me the Dragon seems better for adding gain.

The Pinball EQ can add some nice drive as well, but keep things sounding like the base tone. The more I use it the more I like it. It’s almost like those echoplex pedals where you use it to add that certain something or leave it on the enhance the tone a bit.

So how much would someone pay for a standout nowadays? $667?

$100 and a few hours of time if you were smart enough to buy circuit boards from VFE. I was smart x2. :D
