Thaks for posting this one! What a great show of talent!!

Different philosophies and approach to guitar by all three.. What if it was Nuno, Slash, Vai, and BB King was on stage? Nuno is a melodic shred master. One of my favorites. But I can't size them up with each other. Their all amazing musicians. I'm sure Tremonti learned a few Extreme licks back in that era, as did Myles in their playing development. That had to be such a huge honor for both and Nuno contained the beast...respect.. :)

Agreed.

I used to play in a blues/cover band with some older guys and of course they were straight up pentatonic guys. Very simple stuff (Rolling Stones, ZZ Top). We played all the time and it was pretty rare that I'd light up the other guitar player. It wasn't really the context. When I did, he'd crack up. He thought it was funny.

Cool vids.

When 2 guitar players play and have fun, why does there always have to be a declared winner? It's not the olympics anymore.

I think it all started with the karate kid...

Huh? Tremonti didn't get whipped... They are both unbelievable players.

Correction: both Nuno *and* Myles whipped Tremonti HARD.
Ok, this is just silly.

I had read about Betancourt in the Guitar Mags but still haven't heard a lot of his playing but what really surprised me was how tight and creative and funky his Rhythm playing is in addition to the Lead stuff, when I do hear him, not on this clip for the Rhythm stuff, but effortless chops and free flowing melodies and ideas on his lines.

Quite an amazing Player.

This!!!!

From all accounts, Tremonti is a really cool, down to earth dude. I dont think that he felt threatened or that there were any ego issues at all. Speaking for my self, If Schon, Schenker, Johnson, Gales or any of my heroes ( or ANY badass player) showed up at one of my gigs, Id be honored to not only play with them but have my ass kicked and would welcome the experience with open arms and I think that Tremonti has the same mindset..

just my .02

It was a joke that anybody got whipped. All the Tremonti bashing that goes on here.. Just look at Cameron thread.
I like Creed and Alter Bridge and think the guy is incredible song writer.

I used to bag on Tremonti for his playing and while I dont think that his playing is anything remotely special, hes good enough to play the songs that he writes and hes a pretty talented songwriter. In the end, I think thats all that matters..

Irregardless of guitar playing, the most important thing for me is that Tremonti has more money than all of them put together! Getting in guitar jams have to but just plain fun for him. He can sleep well at night.

have a look at one of those Jeff Loomis / Chris Broderick solo duels. Those are the guys you definitely don't want to invite on stage unless you have the technical skill
