TBH, that Boston guitar tone sounds like a 5w amp…on its own. It sits great in the mix tho.

I agree. The "boxy" discussion literally could've just been about the Boston tone, especially after the first record.

The first record is cool, but it immediately became a cartoon version of itself on the follow-ups.

I had 4 of those half rack units that Tom designed. I ran them into my fender super 60. I gigged with that setup for over a year at least if memory serves correctly…wish I had some recordings of it.

The Rockman stuff is way cool. The main preamp types (the Sustainor and the Distortion Generator) might not be everyone´s cup of tea, but the auxiliary units are great... especially the chorus, the EQ and the compressor could go right into any rig you care to mention.

I lost count in the late 80's and 90's of how many amps blew up using the Scholz Power Soak attenuators...........:dunno: Maybe it was shit tubes or people using them wrong but I wouldn't feel confident plugging into one in 2025.......

I know Scholz went to MIT so he should have been able to build something reliable but still real world evidence says otherwise.........................

I've been running my THD's Rivera's for years with no issues.

I blew up a Carvin x100 head with one in the early 90s
