The whole thing, in retrospect, is a disturbing look at how everything has become politicized and to the point that common-sense has been overtaken by political zealotry and group-think.
On one hand you had people like myself, probably mostly conservatives, urging caution. This was a completely new and untested technology. History has shown us time and again that rushing untested methodologies and putting too much faith in science can have disastrous consequences. Thalidomide, DDT, X-rays, etc. Heck, X-rays were originally promoted as a hair-removal treatment. Women would have their faces irradiated to remove unwanted facial hair. Then they all developed thyroid cancer. Oops. DDT was hailed as a wonder-chemical for the eradication of unwanted insects. 10 years later the bird population was decimated. Thalidomide was regaled as the answer to morning sickness. The exact count is unknown but perhaps million of dead and disfigured babies were the result.
On the other hand you had those who blindly followed "The Science". And they dug their heels in ever further when challenged. To the point that they were doing everything short of rounding people up and forcibly administering vaccines.
Then cracks started to appear in the narrative:
- The vaccines are 100% safe and effective.
- There may be rare "breakthrough" cases.
- Well, there are quite a few breakthrough cases but the vaccine keeps you from getting really sick.
- Okay, well the vaccine doesn't keep your from getting COVID but it'll keep you out of the hospital.
- Uh, well, it might not keep you out of the hospital but you won't die.
- Um, well you might die but not as likely to die as someone who isn't vaccinated.
- (Statistics showing just as many vaccinated people dying as unvaccinated) Crickets...
But the zealots just kept pushing and pushing despite more and more evidence that the vaccines are neither safe nor effective. And they continue to this day. Blinded by their ideology and worship of the government.
Only time will tell but in the history books Dr. Fauci may go down as one of the most evil men of the 21st century. I hope I'm wrong because if I'm right the consequences could be dire.
