Ok, i'm a "Theory Instructor" now....

I wanna learn many things.

1. What´s the point of harmonizing rock guitars?
2. How many ways aret here to play one chord progression?
3. is it smart to start out with open tunings to get down a melody if you´re not a good guitarist.
4. what IS the best way of learning how to play guitar when you don´t know how to? (I´m not an idiot, I learn pretty quick, but those videos are boring and don´t really teach me anything but chords, and those you can find on the net anyways)
5. how do I get that "stop n go" action that Slash/buckethead/Finck/jones/dimebag uses. when they combine palm-muting I thing with something else, and it sounds like the guitar just catapults from muted to 100db in just a few micro seconds. it´s this little moment of air and silence before they go yahoo :p

6. Can I combine uneven rythms in a song? say 5/8 and 3/4?
7. what is arrangement? and what does the arrangement guy do?

Listen to the Scorpions. Thats the point.

Mix and match those chords however your heart desires..

huh? to learn an existing melody? no. play in standard unless the tune was originally in an Open Tuning. If you were creating something yourself i would say go ahead though and have a ball!

Well if you think videos are boring having a real teacher wouldnt be all that much different only you would interact with them. So maybe you need to reavaluate the situation there and decide if you wanna step up and make things happen. and back to the videos....there are tons of amazing videos out there that arent about "chords".

Palm Muting? or are you reffering to the "ON/OFF" button Buckethead has that cuts the sound in and out?

Sure why not? as long as it works for what your doing and the rest of the band is on the same page.

An arrangement refers to whats going on in the song. when did that chorus kick in? was there a horn section playing? who wrote that horn part? etc. Thats what an "Arranger" does.

well...

not on and off, maybe it is on and off, but if you have heard the leaks from new gnr. on better, he has this enormous "attack" after he stops.
like... cho-CHI-ko-cho-CHI-ko etc.. where the chi part is like the stop
I´ve heard it before too, but it gives this insane feeling....

I believe Pantera has used it too... it´s like a machine gun lol :)
