Put it this way, If I had a choice to pick from a Cornford or Cameron Mod Amp, I would go Cornford because at least I could hear string clarity and distinction when ones plays a strat or Les Paul. IMO.

Very true. An amp with so much gain jacked up in the preamp section will not let you distinguish what type of guitar you are playing. Just like an amp modeler, you can play a single coil strat and it will sound no different than a humbucker equipped guitar.

There is a ton of people that would disagree with this very correct statement
Yes, and I'm one of them. Maybe I'm just crazy though. Because I have had to completely tweak my settings through the same amp playing a Jackson, GMW, Suhr, Hamer, and 2 Les Pauls. They all sounded completely different to me. Even the LP's (a Custom and a 57RI GT). How could this be?

I have a jab about the LPs but wont   :D

Dont know man but imo with the gain we are using the quality of the guitar is starting to matter less and less for tone reasons. Does my monaco sound exactly like my 565 with the same pups? No but I bet I can post clips of both and get different responses if I use a high gain setting on the JVM.....use the crunch channel and most will sniff out the Ivebeenhad.

I am starting to care less and less anyways

I have to do the same with my Cameron as well when switching from my strat to SG to LP, all w/ humbuckers in the bridge. Once you are up to a good volume, there is a huge difference in tone between all of my guitars through that amp (regardless of gain settings).

I think it's the single coil vs. humbucker thing....similar to a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier thing ( no comparison by the way). I recently heard a post of someone here playing a 73' stock strat through a Cameron, and it did not even come close to a strat sound. Then again like u said u probably have to spend time to do all this tweaking and stuff, but I'd rather not dick around with settings and be able to pick up my les paul or strat at a gig and GO! Mark himself told me that he understands this concept, but there's a maintenance element that goes behind it, which I don't prefer. I would love to hear some clips of someone doing strat/les paul-type tones through the new vintage model he has coming out.
