Ola demos the Mesa Recto 90 Reissue.......

He plays with the Solar Duncan PUs which are based on the SD Custom, his favorite PU.
It sounds tight because thats just how Ola plays. The mics and the cab also helps a lot.
From what I know, SD blackwinter's are in his Solar signature.

Nope. It's Duncan Solars. The Killertone Texas guy has the BW's in his. But Ola uses the Solars which are just Duncan Designed versions of the Custom 5. Alnico 5 scoopy mid output pickup with a big bottom end.

He does use the other Solar guitar with the Fluences in there at parts in the vid, though.

I thought this thread is about Killertone Texas's demo lol

I was wanting the 90's tighter less boomy two channel recto tone when I bought my 2000 three channel recto in 2000 and was somewhat disappointed with it.

This new re-issue does seem to capture what I liked about the early two channel rectos that I heard on recordings.

WOW...:shocked:the new Mesa Boogie seems to be two for two reissuing their greatest historical amps............:dunno::yes:

I tried to like my 2-ch Triple, back in the '90s, going as far as putting a rackmount compressor in the loop to tighten it up. Matching MESA 4x12 cabs(2), but when I got my "loop modded" 1978 Mark I back, including the Analogman modded Boss OD-1, it was over. Move forward a few years, and I was sunk into the Simul 2C+/EVM halfback world of Boogie. I'm done searching. The stacked 1x12 EVM Thiele cabs will make you tweak your guitar electronics, as well.

I think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding in what it means for an amp to be “tight” as opposed to “percussive” these days.

I also think there’s a lot of people that expect (want?) their tube amp to sound like a modeler into a power amp, but that’s an entirely different discussion 😄
