sometimes we keep looking for the next best thing when what we've already got is what we need.

SO true. I had that Marshall rack running W/D with another rack and it was some of the best tone I've ever had. Then I had to go and mess with it.

All my rack stuff is old... I still use it, noise and all
I love old Yamaha REV7s

I use an Eleven Rack as a pre-amp and processor with a Midiverb III (again, for a specific chorus preset),

What is your specific chorus preset?

This thread makes me feel like the only one who never had a rack guitar rig in their past. But, then again, I never played in the 80's. Started on Electric in '93. :)

Preset #49. It's like 69, but not as good

Seems like a lot of the 80's stuff had chorus layered on the distorted guitar parts (Judas Priest for example...) and this preset seemed to work with the GSP to get a similar tone. It wasn't dead on, but darn close. I also like that chorus preset on top of some of the clean patches to fill things out...

i've got a rocktron pro gap that dates to 1991. i want to use as a di for recording when i get my home studio done. lots of fun in that box. :D

I would be that still sounds freakin' killer! I have always been a fan of the JMP-1 preamps.

I'll put up clips when I get it dialed in.

Funny... Never used chorus except on cleans.

Don't worry you're not the only one. I didn't have a rack guitar rig either back then. But I did strum a bouzouki occasionally- it has eight strings with two of the pairs slightly detuned, so I guess chorusing is ingrained in me... ;)
