Here is a shitty solo clip of the 02 EMG 81. It’s through a Cameron Aldrich ….the one people here were saying doesn’t sound right. Derp ???
The rhythm guitars are Mark 2C++. That Cameron Aldrich cut right through the mix. I was playing the solo for a friends college music final. Was at least 7-8 years ago.

As an aside, can anyone hear a difference between these EMGs running at various voltage? And if so, can you explain it? ?

9V sounds best in this clip...Slightly thicker and more "chunck" in the palm mutes.

Sounds great. My 03 81’s just sounded a bit thinner in my KH2 vintage. I’ll put em i my Jackson KV1 and then we’ll see

I know it's not guitar related, but I found similar changes with the bass pickups. My old 80's Spectors have brown back EMG P/J's in them and they sound way better than the newer active EMG's. The brown back P/J set is warm/thick while still having the EMG bite and clarity, while the newer ones are harsher sounding.
