Hi guys, just want to know your opinions: I will be getting some cash next month and I am thinking of expanding my rig. Currently I have a Herbert and I'm very happy with it. But of course as most Diezel users I have gas for more Diezel.

So I'm thinking if I should get a D-Moll. On the other hand, though, my rig is weak on the cab department at the moment. Should I invest in a new head or focus on getting a cab? I can't decide.

Problem is, when it comes to cabs there are so many options: 2x12 or 4x12? I don't play live or anything, so I'm thinking maybe I wouldn't need a 4x12. I'm guessing best option is to go for a Diezel cab rather than Mesa for example. I'm in Europe and Mesa cabs are pretty expensive here anyway. However, they can be found on ebay sometimes, unlike Diezel cabs. If I could score a Mesa with V30s second hand, then I could still get a Diezel cab with K100s for example.

Too many options, too much confusion :)

Go for another Diezel. Either the amp or the cab. You'll be upgrading in both ways, which is good news. Diezel K100 cab is absolutely crushing for me. Best would be to try and then buy. Whether it's a V30 or K100 cab is always down to a personal taste. One thing though - make sure it's a Diezel!

Get a VH4. There's plenty of great cabs out there, but only one VH4.

Id say get a nice cab to get the most out of your amp you have now...get that rig ripN and then move on to another amp/cab set up. Id go for a Diezel FL .. Im a 4/12 kinda guy..with the amount of air the herbert moves...I have a orange and a mesa cab and they sound great but Im sure a proper Diezel FL would make it sound alot better

Thanx a lot guys for your opinions, definitely gives me some food for thought.

I don't know what cabs you have now, but I played my Hagen through a Marshall 1960a and Avatar cab and it sounded good, but then got a Splawn 2x12 and a Bogner FL 4x12 and I can say the difference was drastic. I replaced the V30's inthe Bogner can with K100's and I'm loving life now. If you don't have a top notch cab to go with your top notched amp, I'd say get a cab. just my 2cents...

Best thing would be to go to a store and try out as many cabs as possible. You can also go ahead and get a Diezel cab. Which one you get depends on these factors:
-Overall sound
-Low End (RL4x12 > FL4x12 = RL2x12 > FL2x12 > Hempcone4x12 > Hempcone 2x12)
-Practicality (2x12 is lighter and smaller, fits in trunks...)
-Price (no big difference for Diezel 4x12 vs 2x12)
-Looks (imo a matching cab always looks better and a 4x12 looks more bad-ass)

My favorite cab sound-wise is the FL2x12 with V30s, but I do use a FL4x12 with V30/K100s, because thats what I bought back then and selling it for a 2x12 is not worth it for me.

Hope I could help!

Thanks guys, this is very helpful.

I currently have a Harley Benton 2x12 with vintage 30s and a Palmer 2x12 with K100s, so as I said not the best cabs out there :)

I guess I will do that soon and try as many as possible, maybe go see Papa when he is back and try them there.

I'd go for the cab, give your Herby what it deserves. I have the FL 2x12 with V30s and it's waaaaaay enough playing at home :D

This 2x12 has crushed all the cabs, even 4x12s, that were against it (Peavey, Marshall, ENGL...). An high end cab is really an asset.

You're right :) I am thinking maybe if I get the 2x12 I can also swap the V30s with K100s and see which ones I like better. Has anyone tried running a 2x12 Diezel with K100s? Oh and also do the wires in Diezel cabs need soldering for connection or just clips?

I'm interested in the answer too... I really liked the 1x12 K100 I had.

Soldererd connections... You need to break out your soldering iron.

what are you currently using for a cab?

cabs make a HUGE difference. my mako 412 cab is the best thing i have done for my rig lately.

i wouldnt get another amp if your cab is really sub par, i think you would see the most benefit from getting a sweet cab to match your already sweet amp.

I have a Harley Benton 2x12 with vintage 30s and a Palmer 2x12 with K100s.

FWIW, Diezels become real Diezels when they're played through Diezel cabs. You may not know the truth of your Herbert till it's played through a Diezel 4x12 and yes, the FL-G12K100 model is to me, hands down the best 4x12 they make. I love 'em. I'd not know half of what these amps could do if they were played through something else. The closest I'd go outside of Diezel cabs is Mesa OS 4x12 with their in-house V30 drivers. But ultimately? I'd end up with a FL-4x12 G12K cab.

Thunder in a box.

Once you've got the cab covered, then pick up another head - easy to play either or any Diezel head through the G12K 4x12; but not so easy to play any Diezel head through another cab.

I really want a Diezel 4x12 for my head, but i pretty much never see them up here in Canada :(

Diezel usually ships a couple cabs to the NAMM-show. If you contact Peter Stapfer from Diezel and maybe King Guitar (just guessing you could maybe help out, Brad), they can tell you more.

Brad is awesome, but you'll get screwed with the duties coming over the border. Nothing Brad can do about that. Talk to Andy, let him know Mo sent you - he'll take care of you. I've done a fair bit of business with Andy and he's always been solid.

Peace,
Mo
