I'm looking in to changing cabs. Anyone have the 212X? Is it the same or different from the 212TM? I only see the 212X on the website. I trust you can only get them loaded. I need a new home for my Scumnicos and was wondering how owners of Egnater 212s felt about the cab.

I have a TM2X12 and it rocks. I pulled the partial back off and it rocks harder. I love mine.

The only 212 cabinet they have is the TM212X. The Tourmaster 212X (x for extension cabinet). I have 2 of them...and plain rock!

I've a Celestion K100 in each of them right now...and will have my Scumback M75s to pair with my K100s tomorrow or monday.

I love the TM212s a lot! My TM 412 w/ 4 M75s is amazing also!!!

My Scumnicos are in a 212 traditional Avatar. Not bad but I would like a littler more thump. Guess I could pull the Elite 80s out, put them in the Avatar and sell that cab. How much thump does the 212 have? I've played through an Egnater 412 and really liked the tone. Just don't want to struggle with 412s anymore.

I've also heard the Port City cabs (wave and OS) and was amazed at the full, deep tone out of such a small box. Not crazy about the price though.

Got plenty of thump. I think it's a killer cab. Can't wait for my 3 M75s to get here so I can put them in my TM212s...and my Port City OS 1x12. I'll let you know how it goes when I get them in.

Hello
My 212TM has a vin30 and a greenback in it. I have the back removed and this thing rocks! Also had v30/Elite80 in there and that sounded a little cleaner and rocked as well. I also own a mesa 212 verticle cab and the 212TM blows it away. To my ears the TM cab sounds 3-D and the Mesa cab is more boxxy (hope that makes sense). At practice, my bandmates comments on the cabs are that the TM cab seems to put the guitar sounds all over the room, whereas the sounds from the Mesa cab come straight from the speakers. I have to agree it feels that way when playing and it is a nice feeling to have. The stereo feature is nice to have also. I have gigged with two amps running into the one cab, very cool! That's just my two cents, good luck in your cab search.

Got the 212X and driving it with the Renigade head . Very full and tight. I'm very pleased with the sound of this cabnet . The only complaint I have about this cabnet is the grill cloth has creases in it (probley got folded some how before it got installed). Our band uses spot lights on the side of the stage and this really shows the creases (shadows). I get complements on how good this thing sounds and then they ask me what happened to the grill cloth. It just bugs me ! I know most of you could probley care less!!!

My grill cloth also has creases in it. (Verticle and right down the middle). I already need to replace it because I got careless when swapping out speakers. You need to be careful with the screw tabs holding the speakers in place. After ripping the cloth I put tape over the rest of them on the front of the cab. When tightening everything down, hold the tabs in from the front to keep them from turning as you nut them down. Now it really looks old and vintage! albiet ugly! Did'nt mean to go off topic but I don't want this to happen to anybody else, believe me it happened too quick and too easy! I have swapped a few speakers since and this seemed to work fine. Now, are there any threads that shows how to replace the grill cloth because that is my next project. Either that or it stays vintage/ugly :D

I really love the TM212's.I ended up with 2 and never looked back.Good all around cabs that can really adjust with alot of styles and sound great!!!!Of course speakers play big part of it but it sounds killer out of the box!!!!

yes jmgman69 I agree, the stock Elite 80s sound good to me also. I use one in my Mesa 212 cab with a v30 and I think it's a great combination. Seems to be a clear sounding speaker with nice bass response. I have tried using the Elite 80 in combination with other speakers and the results were the same, a great complement to any lower wattage speaker with early breakup. It really seems to hold it all together. Egnater really has it covered with their R&D. I feel I can buy any of their products with confidence. Wish I could say that about a couple of other well established amp companies that have been around far longer. (Vox and Marshall should be ashamed of some of the CRAP they are making these days). Thanks Egnater camp for bringing quality back into the fold for a fair price. Damn, I went off topic again, sorry folks I'm a cyber blabbermouth

  What were we talking about :confused:there I fixed it :D

Well, I picked up a 212 at GC on black Friday. Got a great deal. Really like the cab so far. Running my 2204 thru it. One thing I didn't like. Changing Speakers was a HUGE PITA! Unless I'm missing something, I had to take out virtually every screw in the cab to get to the speakers. Took me over an hour to change speakers. I would like to try other combinations but the amount of labor involved is keeping me from doing so.

BTW, I think the Elite 80s sound pretty good. Put them in my Avatar 212 and they rock! Was going to sell the Avatar loaded with them but I think I'll keep them and sell the Avatar unloaded. I may even put them back in the TM.

I've changed speakers in the TM212 about 20 times. It's not easy...but I've got it down to where I can change the speakers out in about 20 minutes tops...and that's including unsoldering / resoldering the speaker connections.

You don't need to take every screw out of the cab. Just take the middle board off, which is the board to make it either a closed back / open back. Once that's done...take the metal grill off. Apart from that, you don't need to take any other screws out of the cabinet to get speakers in / out. Unscrew the speakers...the speakers will come out of the middle area if you tip them properly inside the cabinet. It's still a lot of screws! But man...the tone is WELL worth it!

Eric

You can get speakers out through the middle opening! I took all three back panels off and still could not manipulate the speakers past the two horizontal braces across the back. Guess I'm just an idiot!

I agree. I was pleasantly surprised with the Elite 80. I think it's a very nice sounding speaker. Better than the ri greenbacks, g12-h30 anniversary, V30 and original g12-65s that I've had. Kudos to Egnater for creating great products at prices that make sense.

Yeah, I hit up jmgman with that exact question.......how do you get them speakers out?!!

He told me just the middle section, and it's true. Just have to tilt them up or down and they will come out. Crazy I know.

I'm also diggin the 80's, but have a Scumback M75 HP with a H75 HP on the way to try in the cab. Just can't help myself!!  :D
