Are the new modules going to be English? :thumbsup: :yes: :yes:

Or, is this a trick since they're "really" made in China? :doh: :cry: :no: :aww: :scared: :confused:

Y'know, made in England isn't always a good thing...

Korea and China.

I was thinking,

"this is probably another 'just b/c it says UK, doesn't mean it's not made in China, therefore, why does everyone complain about the new Egnaters being made in China?' threads"
:D :D

Which is one more reason I would use a Matamp or an Electric before an Orange. :thumbsup:

Korea and China.

Umm, I don't think so. The high end tube products are made in England.....

well I knew what Bruce was getting at from the start...

here is the real list of what and where:

Orange Music Electronic Company is an English electric guitar and P.A. amplifier manufacturing company, famous for its distinctive bright orange Tolex-like covering on amplifier heads and speaker cabinets. Orange also manufactures amplifiers for bass guitar, speaker cabinets for instrument amplifiers and combination amplifiers.

Current Amplification

Thunderverb series

Orange's all-valve "flagship" amp heads, for use with electric guitar or electric bass, manufactured in Britain.

* Thunderverb 200
* Thunderverb 50

Rocker Series

Orange's "Modern-sounding" all-valve amp range, manufactured in Britain, introduced in 2004.

* Rocker 30 Head
o Rocker 30 Combo

Rockerverb Series

Larger versions of the Rocker series, with reverb effects.

* Rockerverb 100 Head
* Rockerverb 50 Head
o Rockerverb 50 Combo

AD Series

Orange's take on a more vintage sound, supposedly modeled after Vox's famous AC30. All AD series amps are all-valve amps, and are manufactured in Britain.

* AD30 Twin Channel Head
o AD30 Twin Channel Combo
o AD5 Combo

Tiny Terror

Simple stripped-down all-valve amps switchable between operating in 7 Watts class A or 15 Watts class A. The Tiny Terror has considerably more gain available than the vintage Orange amplifiers, despite only being a four-valve (2 x ECC83, 2 x EL84) circuit.

* Tiny Terror
o Tiny Terror Combo
+ Dual Terror
# Tiny Terror HardWired Edition (full hand-wired and sold with a leather bag for transport)

Speaker Cabinets

Orange cabs for distribution in the USA are built in the USA, others are manufactured in Britain, except the 1 x 12, which is manufactured in china.

* 1 x 12 - Celestion G12 Vintage 30 (60 Watts)
* 2 x 12 - Celestion G12 Vintage 30 (120 Watts)
* 4 x 12 - Celestion G12 Vintage 30 (240 Watts)
* 4 x 12 HP - Celestion G12K-100 (400 Watts)
* 4 x 12 AD (Andy Dunlop Signature Sloped Front Cab) - Celestion G12 Vintage 30 (240 Watts)

Crush series

Orange's range of solid state "practice" combos. These amps are not made in England.

* Crush 10
* Crush 15
* Crush 15 Reverb
* Crush 30 Reverb
* Micro Crush (3 watt output)

Crush Bass series

Solid state "practice" combo amplifiers for bass guitar, made outside Britain.

* Crush 20 Bass
* Crush 35 Bass

Bass Range

Orange's range of Bass Amplifiers and Speaker Cabinets.

* AD200B Head
* 4 x 10 Speaker Cab
* 1 x 15 Speaker Cab

OR Series

oranges remake of the 'pics only' amplifier

OR50 40th Anniversary Custom Shop (Only 40 made)

OR50 Non-Custom shop

Orange Current Shop

Orange custom shop design and build Point to Point Hand wired valve amplification.

Retro 50 Head

AD50 Head

OR50 Head

So as you can see the Thunderverb, Rocker and AD series are built in Britian.

The Rockerverb Series, Tiny Terror Series , 1x12 cabinet, Crush series, and bass cabs are made in Korea, China or "outside Britian".

If you look closely you'll see the majority of the Orange catalog is built "outside Britian".

Bruce,

First of all - why do you do this? We all know that many companies are outsourcing overseas. But Bruce - all of your stuff is going that route.

You don't have to justifly staying the course but don't forget how this started with hand made creations that we (USA - mostly) gladly paid top dollar for to support your company in it's early stages. So as we wait for the latest modules and the E2, (when?) some are starting to get the itch for something different if and when they get that new job. And some of the fortunate ones with jobs have already jumped ship. I've seen how people here are dumping a lot of their modular stuff. Some are buying your new line. But some are just looking elsewhere. I personally will not be buying into the new stuff. But I will be looking for other boutique startups here in the USA to support when I get rehired though. And I'm lucky - I'm not in debt and can afford the downtime. Most can't and just settle for any job, which limits what they can spend on.

It's the American dream to get rich, and you do whatever you can to reach that goal. But things aren't the same anymore. We're not the ravenous consumers that we use to be. Who will buy this stuff? What's the long term solution?

I haven't seen a post for a MOD 50/100 in months. What the hell happened to all the happy customers raving about the swiss army knife of amps? Anyone want to buy my MOD 100........?

What do you want for it? Keep in mind, they're not fetching what they used to, for the very same reasons articulated in your above post........

Exactly. You can make me an offer if you'd like. I also have 7 modules. DLX, VX, COD, SL, SL2x, EG3/4, EG5.

I would just rather play them than tell everyone how great they are. You know how it works around here. People get something new, rave about it for a while and then find something else that they like. I've owned a Mod amp since they were introduced and see no reasons to get rid of them--they work perfectly for me and I haven't played or heard anything that wows me.

You're right - And I still feel the same as you. I play mine every Friday with my band and it kills my other guitar player on every song. And he plays a Mesa Mark IV which is a great amp. Like you, I bought my MOD 100 years ago because I thought they sounded great. I didn't care that a big "name" wasn't on the front baffle. I just liked the design and the sounds. AND the fact that it was made here. Most of my friends say, "what's an Egnater" like it was a food processor or something. I just play it and they remember after that.

I guess Bruce's post just set me off. I know what he's doing. I've seen him ask similar things here, and on other forums. Why? Does it bother him a little that his amps are now made in China? Does he miss his boutique status? I guess with the state of the ecomony, unemployment, and a general negative climate in this country, trying to justify paying lower wages to a worker in China (who probably can't even buy the product) just got to me.
