Ordered a Boss SD-1 as a Boost for my Friedman Amps

Id have to look Wayne.
He also added the "silver" mod, and it may be true bypass now as well...
Pretty sure the invoice is in the SD-1 box.
Ill look when I get home.
that’s a cool mod, I have that on a couple of my sd-1’s
you guys really like the ability to go from asymmetrical to Symmetrical clipping ?

this can be done on any drive out there that uses diodes for clipping ....

It looks like I'll have to do a Super ... Superdrive at some point

Nothing compares to the jbthm-2…. Or you…. See what I did there? 🌈

Is this effectively what the fulldrive 3 does switching between the 90s/wide asym modes?

set to 90’s and you’ll get symmetrical clipping with ample midrange.
Set the switch to WIDE ASYM (wide asymmetrical) and more sweet highs and lows come through, along with chimey, Class-A style even harmonic overtones.

So would this be similar to my Mythical OD where I can toggle between silicon and germanium?

it depends how many diodes and how the diodes are setup ..... it doesn't matter what kind ...

so that toggle might just be picking the type of diode .... not whether its asymmetrical or symmtrical ......

you can do either with any kind of diode

I have an old Japanese version of the SD-1 with the JRC whatever chip. Sounds great if I set the BE50 for mid gain or lower gain. Doesn't sound as good if the amp is in high gain mode. But I find I don't use it as much as I use the HBE mode without a boost. When I hear the SD1, it makes any amp sound like Zakk Wylde's early music.

Also, it's missing a knob and I can't seem to find a replacement for the outer knob on this older SD!.

More toggles = more fun.

I'm down for a super duper drive eventually.

yup!! It doesn’t make the sd-1 sound like a tubescreamer though, it’s more of a frequency shift on the SD-1 to focus more on lower mids. I was shocked how different the sd-1 sounded the 1st time I jumpered d6

I wish more overdrive pedals had a controllable high pass filter.
That and a clean blend.

Having more control over the bass is what I am usually doing if using a overdrive.

I pretty much always use a noise gate any time I use a overdrive, boost, distortion or fuzz pedals.

I'm thinking about picking up a Horizon Devices Precision Drive.
